I guess I could just keep the scans - scan 1.jpg, scan 2.jpg, etc - in the same folder. And let that be that. But the annoying part is if I have to make some small edits later, I have to re-transform and align the scans. So that's why I collect them in a PSD, align them there, and pull from there.
I can easily go back to this file to grab the original and duplicate it into my working file, and I shouldn't have to reposition it again. And all of the files have the same margins in the PSD document so they should be easy to batch edit later. Haven't gotten to that part yet honestly.
The new thing I'm doing is to collect all my scans into one PSD file with a layer for each one. So yes this file becomes quite big. BUT it is only saved once. I also take care to position my comic pages, get them all lined up at right angles properly, in this file. So that...
I have a new way to organize my files. I used to keep a (high res) scan at the bottom layer of my Photoshop files. As I version up, I always keep that layer - and it's actually really big! Like 150MB in a CMYK A4 file. However I don't want to lose the ability to edit based on placement, so...

Wow! This does seem to match with how your work looks. I like how you do clever things with overlays. I didn’t know you could hotkey those toggles!
Who else does a lot of switching on and off "Contiguous" and "All Layers" when they're inking/coloring??? It's because I'm trying to keep my black fill layer separate from my line layer. But then sometimes I have to draw or fill the line layer. Tricky sometimes... but it's working! #photoshop #comix
