If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.
This is the way.
I just signed a @stopburningtrees.bsky.social petition: Stop Drax, Stop Dirty Data Centres!. Sign here: actionnetwork.org/petitions/st...

People constantly claim that Solar Panels will 'destroy farmland'.
But actually the opposite is true, in many parts of the world the shade and trapped moisture Solar Panels provide allow MORE crops to grow, even though a large percentage of Solar Panels is covering the land.

Palm oil is the leading cause of orangutan decline and affects 193 threatened species worldwide.
The government cannot ignore this. Stronger action is urgently needed.

I've urged my MP to show up, speak out and stand up for nature at Tuesday's Westminster Hall debate!
Help make this a turning point nature needs.

Fantastic blog by my former colleague @alanlester.bsky.social forensically refuting the disgraceful attacks on the University of Sussex by the disgracefully ignorant Nigel Biggar.

So I started looking into this to outline the conspiracy theory. But what I found was a genuinely beautiful piece of practical idealism. A small, attainable progressive change that would hugely improve people's lives. I was inspired by it.
It’s an absurd anomaly that the most polluting form of transport pays not just the least - but zero tax, no VAT and no fuel duty, making it artificially cheaper than all other ways to travel.
All of our profits are used to buy land for nature. It’s a great concept, every time you call, text, scroll or just surf - you can do good, every action on your phone leads to an action for nature. We’ve reinvented Doomscrolling - with Ecotalk it’s Bloomscrolling.

Our right to protest is under threat. I just signed @friends-earth.bsky.social petition to stop new police powers that could shut down many peaceful protests and weaken our democratic rights. Add your name too: action.friendsoftheearth.uk/petition/rig...
I was cycling through Gorton on my way home and saw this amazing woman sketching this wonderful mural in support of @greenpartyhan.bsky.social Hannah Spencer for the Gorton & Denton by-election. What an amazing thing to see.

Have you heard? There’s a new bill that makes it harder for millions of eligible Americans to vote. Join me and @standupamerica.bsky.social in urging Congress to vote NO on the SAVE Act:
Great proposal this. Continues to be incredibly funny and incredibly stupid that for years we've *banned* bus and rail operators "colluding" to make their timetables integrate with each other.
Urgent action needed! Please tell your MP to attend a drop-in event on implementing the Animals (Low-Welfare Activities Abroad) 2023 Act. Find out how: www.petauk.org/4gz

If Starmer wants a reset - and not yet another U-turn when the parliamentary party balks at a policy - here is his chance.
Incredible and outrageous.
Incredibly this rare, ancient 21 mile long chalk stream is officially a road. Outrageously it’s being used for 4x4 fun - destroying nature in the process.

🚨Gorton and Denton by-election
PLEASE DON’T BE TAKEN IN BY THE DIVISIVE POLITICS OF REFORM
Bakkafrost’s Portree site is a crime scene. Environmental, biosecurity and consumer safety regulations have all been thrown into the fish shredder. Tesco surely must move to protect its customers and its reputation - and dump Bakkafrost.
Redressing imbalance in much of reporting of Starmer's Government.
