In a short 7 year career, this man played all in NY. With a little over 1k IP, he had a 8.5 SO/9. The 2x AS, came 7th in CY the year Porcello won. He ranked 5th in RoY when Jose Abreu won. Played with both Jeter, & Judge. alongside Ichiro, and was caught by McCann.

Answer: JA Happ! Active from ‘07-‘21, he was a Yankee from ‘18-‘20. With a career 133 Wins, the 2008 WS champion had 1661 K’s. Appearing in 1 All-Star game & ranking 6th in CY, he came in at 2nd in RoY votes in ‘09. 1st rounder McKinney was sent to TOR with Drury for Happ.

Even though this LHP had 26 career relief appearances, he was very mad about being asked to come in as the long man in a playoff game. That Happened to be his last appearance in pinstripes.

NAME THAT YANK!
In 15 years in the majors split between 8 teams, this man won 20 games in a season once. He ranked 2nd in RoY votes where he posted a 12-4, sub 3 ERA at the age of 26 with 2 SHO. He took the number of a certain failed first baseman once he was DFA’d.

Answer: Luis Cessa! Active from ‘16-‘23, in 2024 he was a part of the KCR & PIT. A yank from ‘16-‘21, he became a Yank when a trade between DET & NYY brought him and Chad Green over here for Justin Wilson. In 8 years Cessa has tossed 425 Inn, 331 K’s, in 35 game starts & 208 total games played in.

This Yank was traded for and then with the same pitcher to bookend his time in the organization. Once a Met prospect, he was traded by them for a boar of a man.
He was most recently on a Mexican team with Greg Allen.

NAME THAT YANK!
This Mexican born RHP spent a good 6 years as a yank where he started in the most games of his Yankee career in a single season his initial year. At a point where a different pitcher by the same first name and he, picked up starts due to injury, he played with Tanaka-san.

Answer: Jackson/Clint Frazier! Active from ‘17-‘23, he is currently an unsigned free agent and is not retired. Drafted in the 1st round and 5th overall, this man had quite the collection of cleats & an above average bat speed that impressed many. Concussions seemed to follow him.

NAME THAT YANK!
Known for his bat speed & his stylish cleats, he was a Yankee for 5 of his 7 years in the majors. Never playing in 70+ games in a season, this man had an epic first at bat & hit 12 homers one season. He was part of a trade that sent a great relief pitcher to CLE.

Answer: Starlin Castro! Active from ‘10-‘21, he came to the Yanks from the CHC in a return package that sent Adam Warren & Brendan Ryan to the Cubs. After having two great seasons in pinstripes, he was sent over to MIA with two other players for Big G.

This Yank was traded for a future HoFer. While he was a Yank he became best friends with our shortstop.
He was teammates with Jon Berti, Anthony Rizzo, DJ LeMahieu, and Juan Soto at different times.

Leading the league in Hits 1x with 207 (the youngest to do this), this 4x AS came in 5th for RoY votes.
He also holds the record for the most RBIs in a debut game with 6 RBIs. The kid was a star.

NAME THAT YANK!
Though a Yank for only 2 seasons, this infielder hit nearly 40 homers & 50 doubles in that span. Hitting to a .300 BA or better 3x in his 12 year career, he was the youngest player in the league when he debuted in 2010 at 20 years old.

Chris Capuano was also in that trade. He pitched in 34 games (16 starts) for us between 2014 and 2015.

Chad Moeller was also in that trade. He played in 41 games in 2008 and 9 in 2010 for the Yanks.

Answer: LYLE OVERBAY! This LHB had a career 16.5 WAR, 1355 Hits, 151 HRs, and a .266 BA in 5102 AB. He led the league with 53 doubles for the Brewers in 2004. In 2011 he played against the Brewers in the NLDS & went 0/4. He was a part of a trade between ARI & MIL involving Sexson

This player has one post season appearance and it wasn’t with the Yankees. In those 4 PA, he went 0/4 with 2 K’s. He also led the league in ERRORS committed by a 1B once.

NAME THAT YANK!
This 1B enjoyed a 14 year career playing 142 games with the Yanks in one year. Played for 6 teams and led the league in 2B’s 1x with 53. His only OF appearances were with the Yanks where he had 4. Once a part of a haul of a trade where a future Yankee was involved.

THEME ANSWER!: Including today’s featured player, Ramon Flores, all of these players wore my favorite player’s Giancarlo Stanton’s number, 27 for at least one game.

Answer: Ramon Flores. Active from ‘15-‘17 this LHB was signed as an amateur FA by the Yankees and played in 12 games in 2015 for us before going on to play for MIL & then LAA. The 2016 MIL team gave him a full time position where he showed up in the OF.
