There's a lot of in-between weirdness in earlier seasons too that make for rough patches. I love the series but it's not without its ugly moments for sure
So things ramp up HUGELY after S3 E7-8, it's a lot of slow burn up to that point. I had a hugely hard time with Season 3's first 6ish episodes as well, I think people sometimes unfairly paint the season as awesome the whole way through but it's reeeeally slow for the beginning tbh
