The giant Grey Man’s bald head popping out of the top of the panel is perfect, it captures the movement of the moment. Big shout out to the coloring as well, done by Gene D’Angelo, which captures a fairly simple, dark color scheme that harkens back to those aforementioned 50s horror comics.
It manages to capture both extremes of the EC Comics influence: on the one end, MAD zaniness and kinetic energy, and on the other end Tales From the Crypt style dramatic shadows and morbidity.
This panel from Justice League Europe 8, drawn by Bart Sears and Bob Smith, is just top notch in my opinion.
