They pretty much called it precedent or settled precedent, but they never said they wouldn’t overturn it. So, not sure what the lie is.
Just for the record, there is a lot of settled law that gets overturned. For example, right now before the court there is a case regarding civil forfeiture. So, should SCOTUS go with settled law?

They aren’t. Trump is trying to scare Canadians so Canada bends the knee to Trump.
I tend to think this happens to some extent with all elections. The party that wins, oversteps, and then there is a whiplash effect against that overreach.
