These kits were rejected by their mother (who was dumped) and wouldn't have survived without bottle feeding. This is one common risk of breeding bunnies.

Bunnies are a 10- to 14-year commitment, not Easter gifts! If you're thinking about getting a bunny, please adopt instead of supporting breeders!

Try to talk people who want to buy Bunnies for Easter out of it! Especially if they say it is for a child.

After fostering Charlotte for the past two weeks, it became clear that she wasn't going anywhere! The kisses have only continued, and she has also become cuddly with the family's young son. We are so thrilled that she has found a home with a family who cherish her so much in return!

We scheduled a meet & greet with three bunnies, but Charlotte stole the show. She must have known that she finally found her home and family, because she immediately began showering her new mom with kisses.

The same day that we made that post, Charlotte's adopters filled out a foster-to-adopt application! They had recently lost their bunny and their house felt too empty without the thumps of bunny feet.

Sweet Nelly, now renamed Charlotte, has been adopted!

Only a few weeks ago we posted that Charlotte was looking for a new placement. She had already been in three foster homes, where she was loved, but wasn't a good long-term fit for various reasons.

We sure do have a street bunny society!!

Cloud and Tifa--now renamed Buster and Lucille--have been adopted by their foster!

When contacted to request pictures and information that we could add to their adoption profiles, their adopter replied that she actually was going to reach out to us for more information on finalizing their adoption!

Blackberry has become a happy and affectionate bunny in her wonderful foster home, and is now ready to find a home and family to call her own. Could it be with you?

Blackberry is one of four bunnies (Pumpkin, Winnie, and Mistletoe) rescued by a dedicated volunteer from a busy neighborhood in Roanoke where large-scale dumping occurred.

Blackberry is a spunky girl who enjoys being petted and is extremely food motivated. She is shy with strangers, but once she warms up to someone she can be very affectionate.

Blackberry is a beautiful adult bunny who is looking for an adoptive home. She has been spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated against RDHV2. Her fosters think she would be a good candidate for bonding to a neutered male bunny.

As a rescue, our favorite moments are placing bunnies in loving homes.

Winnie is one of three bunnies rescued from a dumping situation in Roanoke. After being slowly introduced to her foster family's bunny Sulley, the two bonded and her now-adoptive family decided to make it official!

If many shelters in our area won’t intake bunnies or spay and neuter them, and we can’t even hold animal abusers accountable for their actions, what are we supposed to do? We are out of space for new bunnies. We feel exhausted, overwhelmed, and helpless, but they do not deserve to be left for dead.

On top of that, there are scarcely any resources and legal protections for bunnies. For example, animal control told us that there is no way to hold the Portsmouth breeder accountable because we don’t have video of them dumping the bunnies or microchips to prove they had belonged to that person.

When we talk to neighbors in the communities where bunnies have been dumped to learn more information or ask permission, we're frequently told, “they’re fine outside,” as we were told about the bunny we rescued Thursday near a busy highway.

We can’t find fosters and adopters fast enough to keep up with the level of bunny abandonment in VA. A lot of people do not care about bunnies in the same way they do cats and dogs, even though they make wonderful companions, have unique personalities, and are just as deserving of love and care.

This month we've rescued ten bunnies, which are more bunnies than we have ever rescued before in a single month.

We are still working to rescue five more bunnies from three locations in Roanoke, Portsmouth, and Richmond.
