A close up photograph of a partially deflated helium balloon, metallic red. Nestled in an aesthetically pleasing way (of course very much not pleasing from an ecological perspective) in a reed bed so that in the image it’s obscured a little by the reeds. Spotted on a wander and taken FTFOI.

A photograph of a gift come garden store display located roadside somewhere in Maine. An archive image from 2025 it is principally of a baby or young child’s head made from a white porcelain type substance and about the size of a large orange. Notably it’s a little worn as if it’s an ancient artefact but it might be contrived. It is surrounded by more commonplace gift store wares, vases and ornaments of various sizes and colours. I like its gentle macabre nature.

A photograph ostensibly of a row of 9 (fully visible) beach huts situated facing a car park (for accessible badgers holders) and in a range of traditional UK beach (seaside) colours and designs. Notably the car park is empty as the image was captured a little early in the season. Visible in the immediate foreground is the rock of the wall the iPhone was perched to take the scanning shot and unfocused. And of course the sky behind the scene is a bluest of blue fettered by a handful of fluffy white clouds. Bright days will become more frequent - exciting.

Two strings of bright red, decorative paper lanterns are strung across a street, presumably to celebrate the Chinese new year. The lines are anchored to the first-storey window ledge of a mid-terrace townhouse. The building is built on a slope, opens directly to a footpath and faces an iron railing. The rendered facade is a magnolia colour and the doors and window frames have been painted laurel green, and the windows (one per floor) reduce in size and complexity as they rise up the building (20 panes, 12 panes, 6 panes). 1 of the biggest draws for me using those RNI film presets is the fact that most parameters of control are well within range of being creatively useful & you have to push them quite far in order for them to suddenly look gaudy. For this Fujifilm RAW file, I used an Agfa Optima preset in Capture One.

A photograph of the referenced sculpture - a 3 headed bird like form rising from the scape whilst a smaller gull like form looks on. Notably each head sits at the end of a long neck and on the breast of the creature two articulated nipple like protrusions. It’s a grey murky mist ridden day adding to the unsettling (sort of) nature of the scene.
