I’d argue that it doesn’t just undermine it but that the first part of that paragraph directly contradicts the second part lol.

And granted, I do assume this means when some academic institution works directly with them using their tools they will demand a cut?

Or is this them fully saying at any moment in time we can see what you’ve used our technology for and we can come to collect if we so wish? Social media style?

I do not claim to know anything more than what I’m guessing at from when I walk by the openAI window and look in and go “…huh.”

Hollywood will drop them like a sack of shit as well.

From a company perspective, I don’t understand how they thought this was a good idea, unless they felt it was genuinely the only option.

Because the thing is OpenAI does not own, nor did it invent, LLMs.

If there are options that effectively do the same thing, because they all slurped up the same data, then everyone is just going to use the one that doesn’t claim to own a part of anything that you type into it.

Them gearing up to add ads to ChatGPT was 0% surprising. But if this means what it seems, then I have a feeling THEY have a feeling another big round of investor money is not on the horizon.

You are going to LOVE these new ones then.

I honestly think they were too afraid to do in Chicago. Not in a “ we are big and bad” way, but in that’s the third largest city in America way. I think they thought they could pick on Minneapolis easier. And they thought wrong.

Ugh that last part is truly so relatable.

That's why I was so surprised to see it! And when I looked at the cast, I had a feeling they must have removed some of the troma-y stuff. For better or for worse, I didn't know haha

I wanted to sketch out a Magic: the Gathering elf from Lorwyn, and Abby had exactly the right post for a regal elf toasting in moonlight.

This is also not exclusive to elderly people of course. I grew up in one of said homes. lol So I am just acutely aware.

I don't know a single older person who would not appreciate a neighbor checking in to make sure they are ready for what's coming, even if they are all good.

The upcoming winter storm is looking pretty brutal.

The elderly in particular are vulnerable as they may have homes giving them the appearance of safety, but those homes may be older and lack proper heating and insulation. Or they rely on unsafe methods to heat their home. Running ovens/etc.
