Dried tears

And that summer was the first time
I felt the touch so hot yet stone cold
So much of what I do is because of it all
But still walk down the same pitfall

That morning's crisp sun piercing my eyes
The air, cold and heavy like a body of water
The chirps outside and faint whispers
The stench of sorrow I can't get rid of

The wound opens right back up
Like I haven't sewn a thousand stitches
Like the years haven't passed
Like I'm right back in that same room

So if it's not real, then I don't need these anymore
I gouge out my eyes and feel the pain of everyone before
And I tear out a page, let it float down the river
Maybe downstream it finds a new caregiver

Masterpiece, a black bird splitting the night sky
One time I caught a glimpse through the thick mist
I run, I hold my hand out and grip
But I find nothing when I open my fist

Flipping through pages in an endless library of poem
Searching for something I could never find written
Every book I had put my heart in, with these eyes,
Now devoid of what I needed to see in them

What's the TTL

Everyone has skeletons but you keep yours buried in the basement

With all my might I scratch and claw at the rugged walls
I scream, I shout, I bark, but the brick does not respond
To chip away the mortar, it will take a decade
By that time, the house, it will be vacant

I merely get a peek through the window of your house
A warm inviting breeze on my skin from time to time
The rain common in your world so the curtains shut
Leaving me outside, cold, wet, like a useless mutt

It's a Mirror

even out

and yet my leg is still there somehow

feels transactional
feels wrong

if I have to lose everything
I want to keep You
Your words mean only so much
will hope see me through

I'm dreaming just like You said that time
playing the alternate reality Game with my heart

the Collapse is on the horizon, grey sky
uncertain if We survive when it all falls apart

la la la la, ah la la la

shifting the goalposts until I fall off a cliff

depravity leaves no room for remorse

cold steel sinks so deep into the tissue of my being
unbearable hurt or letting it bleed out completely
the wretched wounds will one day defeat me
ever growing feeling that removal will be freeing

sharp sting in my heart as desires violently clash
not knowing what to trust or which turn to make
pull the string, watch it split from both ends
dichotomy that one must not dare to unravel

choked

so fleeting, only longing left

wake up in bed, knowing someone cared for you

home is close, look at the lights

bliss

just living, doing their best, and I was oblivious
