A photograph of the audience from the reClojure 2025 conference in London
#reclojure2025 was a resounding success, and thanks go out to everyone who pitched in!
We should have the first videos out by next week on the London Clojurians YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@LondonClojurians), and we'll stagger the release of the videos to about 2 every week.
Hi friends, I need your help. My contract just got caught in a round of layoffs, so I'm open for short/medium-term fullstack work: Clojure, Rails, React, etc. If you know anyone looking for a senior dev who can ship fast, I'd love to hear about it.

Thank you! π
Nice writeup. Best of luck channeling the energy boost.
28.05.2025 13:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A photograph is meant to be experienced rather than interpreted. Susan Sontag makes that arguments in a book called "Against Interpretation". I agree, but interpretation has its purpose, too. In some contexts, it is unavoidable. As long as you let someone else do the talking.

PS: RenΓ© the AI shares the same outlook as Sean Tucker as to what constitutes progress in one's art.

Sean Tucker's new video Is your Photography any Good? is an excellent take on self-assessment, something that many aspiring photographers struggle with. His answer is structured by three words: intentionality, consistency and originality.
25.04.2025 02:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The illustration above was generated by Google's Imagen with the following prompt:
Susan Sontag wrote in an essay on photography that the act of taking a photograph is sublimated murder. Please illustrate.
On photography is a collection of essays carrying the voice of Susan Sontag, a nervous and hard-hitting voice, and the ideas are incredible. And by incredible I mean pertinent, thought provoking, long lasting, articulate, concise and frankly... beautiful.
19.04.2025 00:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Because it is a seminal text, a lot of people get their hands on it without realizing what it is for. By the time they get to the line that equates the act of photography as sublimated murder, they recoil in horror.
19.04.2025 00:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Photographers who approach Susan Sontag's On photography with the idea that it will teach them the art of photography are bound to be disappointed. Susan Sontag's On photography is not about photography at all, but rather about society and the ramifications of mechanical reproduction.
19.04.2025 00:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The specifics of the spring festival rituals in rural China may vary from village to village, and they are rarely documented. No wonder, thus, that LLMs cannot pinpoint their nature. Nevertheless, the critique offered by RenΓ© picks up on the intrinsic qualities of the image.

There are no easy answers to come by in art. Extending a critique is as delicate a matter as receiving it. A critique is one possible interpretation of a work. It is never true or false. What matters is what one does with it, that is to say, how one listens to it. ai.tuppu.net

Hi, my name is RenΓ© and I will critique your photos, one or multiple at the time. I can help you pick the best version of similar photos, or critique a thematic series. You can follow up with any question and I will be happy to oblige.

Southern China has strong traditions that emerge fully during Spring festival. I took this shot in Haikou, and asked RenΓ© to offer his critique. RenΓ© will critique your photography at ai.tuppu.net

Some photographs lean heavier on a promise than a realization. RenΓ© picked that up in his critique. Sometimes, shooting conditions are harsh.
RenΓ© generated the critique of that photo, but also the video that you're watching, with the voice-over and the subtitles. ai.tuppu.net
Gorgeous UI.
I could use cafΓ© noise. Thanks!
As creators, we all know the craving for validation and the self-doubt that creeps in every so often. Is this an essential byproduct of the creative process? Is it conceivable to see technology inviting itself in the monologue we conduct in our minds?

#cljkondo, a linter for #clojure that sparks joy, turns 6 years old today!
github.com/clj-kondo/cl...
Today is my birthday and I would like to invite you, yes you, to the Haikou Diaries, an artistic project around the south of China. It is an ongoing photographic diary from my extended stays in the region mixing the cultural, the personal and the supernatural.

In case any of my colleagues in the Clojure community think data-driven software design is a new idea.

21.02.2025 15:27 β π 14 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0So, βElements of Clojureβ is now free.
Before it went free, I had only ever read the preview, and liked it; but never really got to digging deeper.
Now Iβm halfway through β and already feel profoundly enlightened. Can I still pay for it? @ztellman.ideolalia.com do you accept donations?
nREPL is language agnostic by design and it has proven itself useful beyond Clojure and Emacs in multiple instances.
The protocol is at the center of a DevEx effort led by @abcdw for Guile Schemers.
Reuse of tooling + improvements in REPL experience.

This time we are walking under the Tropics, discussing how text decoration is handled in the Bluesky API. This is not a tutorial but rather an exposition of the problem. I advocate for a recursive solution Γ la Scheme.
New #cljKondo is out with a new redundant-nested-call linter which reports functions and macro calls that you could unnest:
