I woke up to what I believe is a graphical explanation/storyboard of the differences between searching on Google and ChatGPT/GenAI (for the art problem part, eco factors are a separate matter) and why artists and writers are so pissed but I have to clean house today so y’all gotta let me cook.

That said, if they said they would cease AI use starting today, would they gain any fans back?

For a lot of folks, one mistake is a mistake and you are done.

TLDR: I am marinating hard on the stuff with Larian. I am also watching what they do from here, and now wondering what is being done in other studios that is not being disclosed. Because news flash: they are likely doing the same thing.

Ignoring the obvious environmental impact (I have separate thoughts in this area), I think there can be non-generative AI exceptions. I think of the denoise tool I use in concert photos as an example. But that is way different than me telling a prompt to generate a band photo.

We are not saying “should we” instead of “can we”. AI is not an answer to everything. See: maxi in boat hole. We CAN, but it isn’t the best answer, especially in creating art and music

That is why I am against artistic generated AI: that prompt product shit is dumb. Will I look at AI case by case for other uses? Yes, because there could be better ways to use it that are less harmful. But too often we are just trying to use maxipads for clogging boat holes. 2/

If you are online, your data is likely being used in AI. You are feeding the machine just by reading this. If you are completely anti-AI, that is really the only true way to divest yourself of it. Otherwise, you can only make decisions to mitigate.

Life update. Doing okay. Got through a hectic 2 weeks at work and am getting a semi-respite by only having to go in the office one day instead of three. Took a wee break from streaming on the other channel (yes, I have a second one!) while I work on LA Comic Con fun stuff. Glad y'all are still here!
