@radonjournal.bsky.social just sent out the bat signal for cyberpunk flash for their issue 13

As we enter the second half of Issue 13's reading period, we would love to see more transhumanist or cyberpunk flash fiction.

We have a fair number of longer dystopian works, and want to round out with our futuristic meat and potatoes

The cover of Noctopolis: An Apocalypse Keys Mystery from Calenmir's RPGs, which is formatted as a comic book newspaper cover. The central image is a group shot of seven superheroes. They include a dark-cloaked figure with a red mask, a Nightcrawler lookalike boosting up a fellow hero using water, a Black woman in powered armor giving the cloaked hero bunny ears, a tan woman with glowing spear & shield wearing hoplite armor, a St. Bernard waving at the camera, a heavyset white guy in street clothes and dazzle paint, and a pink-skinned person in a blue jay onesie. The caption names them as Chiropter, Water Weaver, Hex Wrench, Light Skirmisher, Anymorph, Captain Facepuncher, and Blue Jay, respectively.

The snippet of the "article" begins: Noctopolis, NERZ - After robots swarmed the business district, six Project Paragon heroes and one vigilante arrived on scene

The No ICE in Minnesota bundle is available for 1 more week! For $10, get over 1400 #TTRPGs / supplements (including a PDF of Noctopolis, my horror superhero module for Apocalypse Keys), and support immigrants in Minnesota!

Kristi Noem was asked during Senate testimony yesterday whether Corey Lewandowski had any role in approving DHS contracts.

"No," Noem said.

That's.....BS. And my colleagues have the goods.

Screenshot of ProPublica webpage titled “Explore Financial Disclosures From President Trump and 1,500 of His Appointees,” accompanied by this blurb: “Use this database to explore potential conflicts of interest for President Donald Trump and his team. The documents disclose positions officials have held outside government, their assets and their debts, among other things.” A search bar prompts the user to search for a person or financial holding.

THREAD: We just released a tool that allows you to search billions of dollars in wealth, ties to the most powerful companies in the country, and details of the personal finances of President Trump and over 1,500 of his appointees.

I feel this. You’re unlikely to even get a response from me since I delete these emails and block the sender after reading just the opening lines. It sucks that it’s come to this, but it’s an unfortunate reality for a lot of writers these days.

Our Third Anthology: OF DREAD, DECAY, AND DOOM Jendia Gammon published a post on Ko-fi

Thrilled to be part of this incredible roster with my story, “From the Ice and the Darkness.” A reminder that this horror anthology is still crowdfunding. It’ll happen regardless but if you can chip in it’ll help Stars and Sabers keep bringing you more great fiction.

Please call the Senate they will vote very soon on whether to allow dangerous sulfide-ore copper mining on the edges of Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Tell them to vote NO on House Joint Resolution 140 (H.J. Res. 140).

Notes on winter When the world turns whimsical

Wild fact from @billmckibben.bsky.social's latest newsletter:

"The last colder-than-average month on planet earth was in February of 1985, which means that no one under the age of forty has ever known one."

Last week the far right started peddling a narrative that the outrage over Epstein is a moral panic. Today, like clockwork, a more polite version of that narrative appears in the Atlantic.

If you’re reading for the Nebulas, Hugos, Auroras, Locus, Ignytes, or most SFF awards, I’d love it if you’d consider this short story. It’s now also on the BSFA long-list. This one means a lot to me so I hope you’ll give it a read.

Hitting the “Emergency Brake” on Climate There’s a hard truth about climate change: Meeting the Paris Accords — and limiting global warming to 1.5˚C or “well below” 2˚C — requires…

The world is going to blow past the 1.5 C goal of the Paris Accords. Even limiting global warming to 2 C will be very hard.

But we might still be able to pull it off if we change tactics, and focus more attention on climate “Emergency Brakes”.

what impressed me most today was that a huge crowd of people who mostly had never been tear gassed managed to retreat without running or trampling each other. under a cloud of gas that was not moving (zero wind), people held onto each other and walked blind down a street packed tight as sardines
