What Is News? As people are exposed to more information from more sources than ever before, how they define and feel about β€œnews” has become less clear-cut. Pew Research Center.

Came across this "What is News?" report from Pew Research - may be of interest to anyone teaching Mass Media (a new prep for me next semester) www.pewresearch.org/journalism/2...

People are willing to forgo a significant portion of their earningsβ€”between 12-36% of their wagesβ€”to avoid hostile work environments.

Women exhibit a stronger aversion to exclusionary workplaces and environments with sexual harassment.

I think it's interesting when older folks have first political memories of supporting the other party and wonder if polarization will make this less common for younger folks. Maybe their partisanship is baked in earlier.

Inquired about this and was told there was an irregularity in the fat content of the milk shipment. The plot thickens. Or thins? Wasn't really clear.

I am incredibly proud that my book, co-authored with Andrea Aldrich, is published. Using an original party leadership dataset from 11 parliamentary democracies, Andrea and I show that women candidates face a glass ceiling for leadership and quickly sink once elected (the quicksand theory).

The worst happened. We were DOGE’d. Our NSF funding is gone.

So now there’s nothing stopping me from sharing Expert Voices Together, a crisis response system for US-based researchers and journalists facing harassment.

It's a true passion project. 🧡 1/

Research article "A Look Back At 20 Years of Research on Gender and Voting in Politics & Gender" by Erin C. Cassese & Amanda Friesen.
Abstract reads: This essay highlights the impact of Politics & Gender on the discipline’s understanding of how gender shapes the preferences, behavior, and motivations of voters. It provides descriptive information about the prevalence of research on gender and voting in the journal, along with the proportion of articles dedicated to women voters across different regions globally. The bulk of the essay focuses on the substance of this research β€” drawing out major themes and identifying significant contributions within each theme β€” and it concludes by offering a future research agenda on gender and voting.
