You gotta play this one.

You can upgrade all your specials, and find random power ups and abilities and power those up as well.
There are two endings, one if for the first run and the other is the true ending with a harder boss, and truth be told I did have to slide the difficulty down for that one.

Cider- the construct who uses high flying attacks
Brome- Frog wizard who uses spells, surfs on his staff and deals some decent damage (who I picked for the final run and the true ending)

Galandra- Elf warrior who wields a massive broadsword
Karl- Dwarf brawler who uses a combination of fists and his gun (who I beat the first run with)

13th game finished this year, Absolum played on Steam.
What a game, wow! It’s part beat em up part roguelike(with a difficult slider if you’re so inclined)
You start out with two characters and unlock the other two.

12th game finished this year, Dredge, played on Steam.
Some friends said I’d like it. It’s meh.
90 hours? No that’s a mistake lol. That’s because I left it on sleep mode and now Steam thinks I loved it.

Flashy beat em up style with fun challenging bosses. I looked it up online and it seems to be pretty obscure. Glad I got to try it out

11th game finished this year, The Gladiator (or The Gladiator: Road of the Sword) on the (emulated) Arcade.
A 2003 Wuxia-themed beat ‘em up from china developed by IGS. You play as one of six saviors of china(I played as Chu Xing-Han, the main protagonist)

Me too lol. With a lot of “hi-yahs”

Some of the choreography was bad, like see the guy fall and roll off screen to “die” only to be shown a couple seconds later to fight again. That could be because the low budget and they had to reuse a few people.
It was a ok watch for an hour and a half.

This movie is for the most hardcore samurai fans, most people would tap out half way through. And for me, it was fine.

Tonight’s movie was Crazy Samurai 400 vs 1, a dramatic retelling of the legendary Musashi Miyamoto, but what makes this film unique is that its major battle is one continuous shot that last 77 minutes.

The game can be ridiculously hard, the difficulty spike is nutty. But with most fighters, you just learn the patterns and make it through.

As a big kaiju guy, I seen some of my favs in here (Red King and Gamora to name a few). Beating the game on hard mode you unlock Zoffy(another Ultra-being from space).

10th game finished this year, Ultraman: Hikari no Kuni no Shisha on the (emulated) Wonderswan Color. Made in 2001 this handheld fighter follows the titular Ultraman as you save the planet from aliens and kaiju.

The A and B buttons control each hand of Tomaday, you also get to get upgrades from tomato cans that turn you into different forms (from an angel tomato to a baby of all things)
Because I emulated, I had forever credits, so yay!!

9th game finished this year, Captain Tomaday on the (emulated) NEO GEO. A shoot em up from 99 you play as a Tomato flying around fighting Eggplant aliens.

Three characters to choose from (no I didn’t pick the Hulk Hogan looking dude this time lol) upgradable magic items, I got to the point where I could turn enemies into weaker scarecrow guys. First time I ever tried this one and I liked it.

8th game finished this year, Cross Swords 2 on the (emulated) NEO GEO. A hack n slash with rpg elements crossed with Punch Out?! Weird, but it works!

You get to win over the other captains of the rival teams, to make your team stronger. Flashy arcade style graphics, Kunio-Kun characters, smooth gameplay, you gotta try this somehow.

7th game finished this year, 1996’s Super Dodge Ball on the (emulated) NEO GEO. WOW! What a toughie! This S.O.B was testing my last nerve with its final boss. Other than that, great fun.

Fun colourful characters, I picked the Master Roshi looking dude and had a bunch of fun. You even get to jump into the foreground and hang off of cables and such.
Nothing crazy new in this, if you’ve played Fatal Fury before, you’ve pretty much played this.

6th game finished this year, Savage Reign on the (emulated) Neo Geo. A fighting game from 1995 made by SNK, it’s reminiscent of the Fatal Fury games(even taking place in the same fictional city) with the same two line battle system.

4th game finished this year, Mortal Kombat II on the (emulated) Genesis. Kung Lao is the coolest looking character in MK, ever. Blade hat?! Cmon. Anyway, Shao Kahn can suck it. I hate that dude so much. And Scorpion, he can get it too.
