melora and lisbeth on the airship, as we last left them. searching through the stolen records of ishgard's military, they learn the holy see is aware of the disappearance of a nation known as lyonesse from people's minds, and the presence of its name in many of their records. though the holy see is seemingly not responsible for this situation nor aware of how it came to be, they do not plan to share the information with their allies, as they have deduced lyonesse was a rival power to theirs and they have no interest in bringing its former existence to light. an old reconnaissance report from ishgardian knights states that a similar situation seems to have happened not long ago at a village between the shroud and coerthas, where all inhabitants had disappeared, and the village's name and history had been forgotten by the people of the surrounding regions. melora, saeed and lisbeth decide to set a course for the black shroud.

melora, saeed and lisbeth, geared up, landed within the black shroud and follow the road towards the border with coerthas. there, they are met with the sight of their destination

melora, saeed and lisbeth stand before the abandoned village of blumendorf, at the edge of the shroud. a dungeon title card with the village's name appears, as well as "duty commenced".

melora, saeed and lisbeth walk around the empty village, devoid of any signs of life. melora and saeed tread wearily, weapons drawn. lisbeth observes her surroundings and compares what she sees to the ishgardian written report
