The way Bondi is doing this is a particularly ugly little detail of authoritarian leaders, I guess. The power to selectively stop ethics investigations gives the DOJ the ability to threaten and manipulate their own employees, should someone ever have a conscience

Why does it matter? “DOJ is required to consider and respond to the comments submitted. They may not prevent the rule from taking effect, but they will be part of the official record when the rule is (inevitably) challenged in court. Please consider taking this small step..”
