in the city of our making
above the plague
& swarm of humanity
you press a name to my hips
& make me god
swollen w immortality
love is this—fever, infection
we replicate what we covet
until drowned in fortune;
until the face of the earth
overruns & we die choking
in an abundance of flowers

first spring flush
life at the knife of it, cold
spring runneth over flowers
& flowers of cold enchanted
music… startled into
the end of something magic
& divinical

alight, may winter
& never be more —
heralded quick
& harnessed with fairy-bells
