For those of you who are unfamiliar with James Talarico or have no idea how he could have won, THIS is an example of his campaign. Zohran Mamdani really set the scene and it just WAS effective for a lot of people!!

this is such a good point bc people are talking as if he's another beto (i like beto fwiw) but his campaign was very different from beto's. if anything, crockett felt like the establishment candidate here

i like that he's a christian who speaks out against christian nationalism. for me it was never "he's a white man, texans won't vote for a black woman". in the past 6 months there has been a wave in people i grew up with having a crisis of faith re: the republican party and i think he speaks to that

aside from that, it was less concerns about crockett & more supporting talarico. i appreciate what he has done in texas, even on a small local scale. he signal boosted a local charity my girlfriend and i are actively involved in and it genuinely us feed people in our city.

i mean the primary decision-maker for me was crockett's ties to israel. i could overlook that for a house position but for the senate that's incredibly important for me. neither of them are great on israel but at least talarico didn't accept aipac money for this campaign.

if anything, i felt that people around me were excited when crockett joined the race. all anecdotal of course but i think that matters when the narrative being painted nationwide does not align with my lived experience as a texan

it's beyond frustrating to see many people's informed decision be boiled down to narratives like that
