For many Black women, the Target boycott is not over. It may never be. A faith leader announced the end of a yearlong “Target fast,” but many Black women who helped launch the boycott say the movement wasn’t his to call off.

We spoke to Black women who started the Target boycott & who sustained it for a yr+. They'll likely never go back.

Teacher Laverne Mickens put it like this: “[Black women] will say if & when it’s over. And I can tell you right now: That will be the 15th of never ever.”

tweet from quiver quantitative: "JUST IN: Traders on Polymarket are now predicting that Democrats will win both the Senate and the House in 2026. Looked incredibly unlikely a few months ago."

Idk who needs to hear this but: consider blocking any account that promotes what prediction markets say about elections. Elections are already a monetized hellscape without people suddenly pretending that betting provides political insights. We literally can't afford for things to get worse.

Over a third of the arrests made by ICE during President Donald Trump’s administration were of individuals with no criminal convictions and no pending criminal charges, compared to 13% of individuals under the Biden administration.

Tweet from Rep. Andy Ogles: "Paperwork doesn't magically make you American. Muslims are unable to assimilate; they all have to go back."

MAGA wanting to require voters to provide proof of citizenship while also saying that the paperwork does not actually prove that a voter is an American is raising some questions for me

And don't be mad at me, I'm not talking down to anyone. I'm a Houstonian who swam out of the house in Tropical Storm Allison and my family's house also flooded in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Idk how Houston is gonna cope with the future if individuals want to think of their flood risk as something they can get an exemption from. Unfortunately climate change & development are increasing flood risk and living in Houston means choosing to live with that.

A homeowner’s guide to surviving FEMA’s Harris County flood map overhaul Harris County’s draft FEMA flood maps could move thousands into higher-risk zones. Check your flood designation and understand next steps before it’s final, Nick Powell writes.

"Don’t panic about the new Harris County flood maps. Here’s how you can appeal your flood zone." 😕

To be clear, this isn't like protesting your property taxes. The whole point of the new map is to better understand your current & future flood risk.

Why Congress keeps handing Trump its power Trump’s second presidency has accelerated the growth of executive power at the expense of the legislative branch, raising concerns about the balance of powers.

“I think Madison never imagined or envisioned a Congress with no ambition. This is a Congress without ambition. This is a Congress without really a belief structure in defending legislative prerogative. They just are a rubber stamp for whatever a president tells them to do.”

It is truly staggering to witness just how much devastation the American public is willing to shrug off with total indifference as long as their Amazon packages are delivered and their own families are safe

I know the brain badly wants to go numb and not see this but: $5.6 BILLION. $5.6 BILLION to achieve: murdered elementary school kids, a new Iranian leader like the old one, toxic rain, environmental disaster, destroyed water resources, dead US soldiers, damaged historic sites.

Which religious leaders in Texas are speaking out to condemn these lawmakers for targeting and inciting fear of a religious minority?

It's really hard not to feel hopeless about the flood of disinformation, lies & manipulation we'll experience between now & the November election. Everyone's just got to try to keep fighting it: be skeptical, vet everything, *speak up* when friends/family share bad info, DO NOT rely on AI.

Good lord this story is insane. Sometimes you almost have to just laugh at this level of mismanagement but in this case you can't because it's literally about access to *water*

NEW: Chris Gober — a Republican attorney who played a key role in the GOP’s effort to redraw Texas’ congressional map mid-decade — is now the party’s nominee to represent one of the very districts he helped redraw.

This November, he will face Democrat Caitlin Rourk in the GOP-leaning district.

Kalshi employees "kind of understand that without the tweets and the streamers and all of the social-media stuff that the traders do for them, usually just for free, their marketing would be a lot harder," said Jack Campion, 20, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Kalshi affiliate.
In September, Kalshi briefly signed up a 15-year-old videogame streamer who goes by vertid online to promote its brand on X as an affiliate.
A week later, Kalshi ended the partnership.
"Yo brother, legal team confirmed that we can't work with minors rn," a Kalshi employee wrote to the user in messages reviewed by the Journal. "Kinda sad tbh."

It's really worth taking a moment and reflecting on how a state that requires ID to vote just acted to immediately invalidate the IDs of a specific group of voters - and what that move could look like if a state tries to weaponize it against others in the future.

Kansans have until July 14 to register to vote in the state’s 2026 primary election. A driver’s license is one of the most common forms of identification in a state that requires a photo ID to vote.
