There are sooo many of these accounts on Twitter and pretty much none on Bluesky. Of course.
We spoke to Black women who started the Target boycott & who sustained it for a yr+. They'll likely never go back.
Teacher Laverne Mickens put it like this: “[Black women] will say if & when it’s over. And I can tell you right now: That will be the 15th of never ever.”

Idk who needs to hear this but: consider blocking any account that promotes what prediction markets say about elections. Elections are already a monetized hellscape without people suddenly pretending that betting provides political insights. We literally can't afford for things to get worse.
Over a third of the arrests made by ICE during President Donald Trump’s administration were of individuals with no criminal convictions and no pending criminal charges, compared to 13% of individuals under the Biden administration.

💙💙💙 so happy the babies are safe
MAGA wanting to require voters to provide proof of citizenship while also saying that the paperwork does not actually prove that a voter is an American is raising some questions for me
And don't be mad at me, I'm not talking down to anyone. I'm a Houstonian who swam out of the house in Tropical Storm Allison and my family's house also flooded in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Idk how Houston is gonna cope with the future if individuals want to think of their flood risk as something they can get an exemption from. Unfortunately climate change & development are increasing flood risk and living in Houston means choosing to live with that.
"Don’t panic about the new Harris County flood maps. Here’s how you can appeal your flood zone." 😕
To be clear, this isn't like protesting your property taxes. The whole point of the new map is to better understand your current & future flood risk.

“I think Madison never imagined or envisioned a Congress with no ambition. This is a Congress without ambition. This is a Congress without really a belief structure in defending legislative prerogative. They just are a rubber stamp for whatever a president tells them to do.”
It is truly staggering to witness just how much devastation the American public is willing to shrug off with total indifference as long as their Amazon packages are delivered and their own families are safe
I know the brain badly wants to go numb and not see this but: $5.6 BILLION. $5.6 BILLION to achieve: murdered elementary school kids, a new Iranian leader like the old one, toxic rain, environmental disaster, destroyed water resources, dead US soldiers, damaged historic sites.
pessimists getting sick of being right all the time
(Not a rhetorical question, I am genuinely asking)
Which religious leaders in Texas are speaking out to condemn these lawmakers for targeting and inciting fear of a religious minority?
It's really hard not to feel hopeless about the flood of disinformation, lies & manipulation we'll experience between now & the November election. Everyone's just got to try to keep fighting it: be skeptical, vet everything, *speak up* when friends/family share bad info, DO NOT rely on AI.
“This is the legacy of the imbeciles”
Please enjoy some pure uncut Texas bullshit and I am from there so I get to say that
Good lord this story is insane. Sometimes you almost have to just laugh at this level of mismanagement but in this case you can't because it's literally about access to *water*

Interacting with a large business in 2026 is a real slippery slope to feeling grateful for human mortality, that there's a limit on how long we have to deal with this
I'm not sure how customer service things got this bad but every time I have to interact with a large business is the worst day of my life
NEW: Chris Gober — a Republican attorney who played a key role in the GOP’s effort to redraw Texas’ congressional map mid-decade — is now the party’s nominee to represent one of the very districts he helped redraw.
This November, he will face Democrat Caitlin Rourk in the GOP-leaning district.
what the fuck are we doing

thank you!
Brb time traveling to 2015 just to get some rest
We can't keep living like this
If we're expected to believe that there's a Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, I really think we all deserve tomorrow off work. Immediate three day weekend for everyone forced to live in whatever hallucination this is.
What in gods name is Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas
NEW: Tomorrow, Virginians will begin voting on a redistricting measure that would allow the state to redraw its congressional map to counter GOP gerrymanders.
@nataliehausmann.bsky.social explains the legal battles that led to this point and what voters can expect when casting their ballots👇
It's really worth taking a moment and reflecting on how a state that requires ID to vote just acted to immediately invalidate the IDs of a specific group of voters - and what that move could look like if a state tries to weaponize it against others in the future.
Kansans have until July 14 to register to vote in the state’s 2026 primary election. A driver’s license is one of the most common forms of identification in a state that requires a photo ID to vote.
