I personally don’t pull out my phone during concerts anymore for this exact reason. It’s just another barrier preventing you from connecting with the show bc you’re distracted looking for the right shot or light or angle instead of focusing on the moment/music
I once watched Tyson Ritter of All American Rejects kick an iPad out of someone’s hands bc they were holding it up and filming the whole show without jamming or engaging in any other way and that’s the energy I think we should bring into 2026. Don’t be lame. Don’t incur the wrath of Tyson.
I never would’ve felt worthy to go to another Halsey show again after that. That’s so mortifying I would’ve buried myself in the dirt and become a worm 😀

Making an artist feel insecure/take away their energy on their own stage is honestly the most selfish thing a fan can do at a concert imo idk
first ever kpop concert I went to the artists scared me straight (linked in this comment) and it fundamentally changed me as a concertgoer. Like you’re there for the artist, it’s not about *you* at all. It’s about showing the artist love and giving them a reason to pursue their passion.
“I see some of you are still standing w/your hands @ your side/not moving to the music, let’s have everyone dance/have fun w/our next song”
I’ve carried the shame of making an artist ask people (ME) to have fun/be excited at their own concert so I’ll never do that shit again bc I am still MORTIFIED
Maybe it’s bc I‘m still mortified from when I went to see monsta x at ~17 (insecure and nervous) and didn’t move or dance the entire concert and one of them got on the mic 3/4 of the way through the concert and said:
RIGHT??? or like giving some sort of excitement or enthusiasm if you’re going to sit 😭😭😭
like when I went to go see Jin he was like “Can y’all PLEASE put your phones down???” And like it lasted for a minute before everyone around me had the out again ???
Idk call me a boomer but why are the artists needed to beg people to get off their phones during their concerts 😭😭😭
+ I think there’s just been a weird shift in kpop concerts lately with people being glued to their phones. Bc 4/5 kpop concerts I’ve been to the artists have asked the crowed to get off their phones and just vibe with the music which is just embarrassing if they have to ask you to get off your phone

you’ll find people not having fun in any space you go to (unenthusiastic/watching the video on their phone) but for people who are shy/take a bit to warm up, singing + dancing will help encourage them!! Ik when I sit next to people who are excited for a concert it makes me loosen up/have more fun!!

Also what is it seriously with people not waving their lightsticks??? I remember back in the day during the LYS tours if I needed to stop waving my lightstick for whatever reason I could look around and match everyone around me right away (ik it’s just keeping the beat but I’m making a point!!!)
SVT has pussy popping songs yeah I’d be singing and dancing ??? This happened at hobi (wasn’t asked to sit but 80% of the entire rafters was sitting and each time I looked back it was just a wall of phones filming it was freaky) and I was gagged bc how can you not stand for a single song ???
but if I paid $100 for nosebleeds and I’m being asked by someone (and if the people behind them are also giving zero energy) behind me giving zero energy to sit down when I’m singing and dancing I’m going to be pissed
ik it’s an issue w/people buying ADA seats who don’t need them and venues not reserving them for people who actually need them, but ADA seats are also available for people that need them but again that’s sometimes not an option for people which is frustrating =>
i completely understand this! I’m talking about 90% of a section not even dancing in their seats when sitting/showing they want to be there. you def don‘t need to stand to have fun, not what im saying at all :) but I’ve been to so many concerts lately that 75% of the crowd didn’t have energy
Like I don’t care if you don’t know all the songs/lyrics thats okay!! Literally not asking for only die hard fans but why are people or entire sections sitting lifeless in their chairs and never cracking a single smile when there is fun music playing ???
In the past 4-5 concerts I’ve been to (All different artists from varying companies at small venues to large arenas) I’ve seen so many stagnant lightsticks like guys !!! It’s there to show engagement !!! Not to just hold !!!
Also if you’ve bought a lightstick why did you spend the money to buy it if you’re not going to wave it and engage with the music with it like you’re supposed to??? The lightsticks are there to show your support for the artist!! Show that you’re having fun!!
Very sick and tired of people going to kpop concerts and sitting ??? and people (who I am assuming to be new kpop fans) ASKING people who are singing and dancing to sit down MID CONCERT ??? and these people are just sitting in their seat watching the video they’re taking on their phone ???
