The Cornetto trilogy is kinda funny in the sense that you'll probably pick a favorite in relation to whichever genre being parodied is a personal preference or not.
Like yeah, they are parodies but they also all tend to be actually good takes on Zombies, Buddy Cop, and the Body Snatchers and so on.
Leon is also a comedic sociopath who will make quips about drop kicking previously alive humans who've been horribly transformed into monsters.
Leon has a moral standard but I do not believe it's a high bar to clear.

Like I hate 4 but I'm not gonna argue against its popularity or how it seismically shifted 3rd person shooters.

Worth noting that your favorites (outside of 4 which also cut a lot of the fat by not featuring Umbrella and going in a different direction in terms of monster design and gameplay) accumulated in what's largely seen as a low point in the series with 6.

I always try to hold empathy for folks, imagine how I'd feel if something I loved and grew up with was the property of a truly monstrous person and how that would effect me, if I could let it go and to what degree, etc.

Because I'd argue there were, in fact, reasons for said murder.

It'd still be a fun "bad" movie but honestly I feel like fleshing it out an extra 10-15 minutes would have brought it to a bit better.
