They literally didn't. DLC has always been eligible for all awards. Cyberpunk's DLC Phantom Liberty was nominated for numerous awards like Narrative and Performance just last year. Witcher 3's DLC Blood and Wine *won* Best RPG in 2016, 8 years ago. This has always been the rule.

So even if VF6 exists, no chance we're seeing it at The Game Awards now. Would be stupid to start advertising 6 when you have a new version of 5 to sell.
