When I was a kid, I couldn't wait to be an adult because I imagined that adulthood would be a time when no one would interrupt me when I was trying to read.

If I could go back in time, I would tell that little girl she has never been more wrong about anything in her life.

Watching Love, Meghan on Netflix. I like it! It’s no more or less awkward than Barefoot Contessa which I also like. There, I said it. Could we lay off the Sussexes?

New way to think about stress dreams: the opportunity to wake up and think, well whatever happens to me today, it probably won’t be as bad as that.

On days you feel low, organizing and cuddling your old work can feel good. You will see personal growth and remember how you felt actually writing some things. You will also find writing you have zero memory of ever writing. The mystery of YOU is real. #writingcommunity #writers #inspiration

A screenshot of a news article about Artificial Intelligence, which reads: “OpenAl says it has evidence China's DeepSeek used its model to train competitor. White House Al tsar David Sacks raises possibility of alleged intellectual property theft.”

Tech bros: “So we stole creatives’ IP on a grand scale to train our AI. So what?”

Also tech bros: “DeepSeek stole our IP! Waaaaaah!”

Karma, baby. It’s DELICIOUS. ☺️

I know this may not be helpful but as a creative writing teacher, most of the people who felt they were bad writers were far from it. It’s the people who feel they’re already great writers we need to worry about. You may still need a break. You are just at a different stage.

Reckoning With This Vicious World Don’t let it make you anxious or merciless or indifferent. This moment requires balance, compassion, and love from each and every one of us.

I needed this. Maybe you do too. Seize joy.

Interview: Heidi Czerwiec - CRAFT I started writing lyric essays long before I knew the language for what I was doing. Working at the intersection of poetry and prose, I wrote about big emotions (love, grief) because I wasn’t sure how...

Check out @heidiczerwiec.bsky.social's interview in CRAFT on the lyric essay: "all of these different lyric elements…sound or visual images, smell, or doing strange things with time…engage with the reader in a different way than a more traditional linear narrative would."

All it would take would be adding, "btw. I am grateful for the partner whose health insurance allowed me to do this." Reminds me that comedian Leanne Morgan does this all the time, talking about her husband with a regular salary.

Listening to podcast with an artist I admire. How she's stayed true to her art in her long career. Unmentioned: her partner's income stability & health ins. Asking again, could we PLEASE be upfront about this? For those of us who ARE the partners with the health insurance etc.w/out such flexibility.

Writing Tip:
Consider drawing your world. You don't have to be an epic artist to do this, just create a rough map of where things are geographically. A visual representation can really help iron out the details of your worldbuilding, and you can update it as you go.
