this whole idea just seems to me like "Toby is a GOOD storyteller therefore he will do specifically what *I* want him to because im a genius" cuz people cant conceive of the idea maybe Toby IS a good storyteller but the story in his mind is different than we think it is w/ the info we got currently

people extrapolate too much from "Toby Fox doesnt do stuff JUST to be surprising" and think that therefore he 100% will just do what's obvious but like. he might? not JUST to be surprising, but maybe because the story he wants to tell happens to be different than what the fandom thinks he is?

all of that, while also ignoring the gameplay which most people agree is the most fun theyve had with the series in a good while. you can criticize where it matters, like sure i agree i think the building should be improved. but treating the game as irredeemable trash while everything else is good??

not gonna say theres not a LOT to improve with the Pokémon series and how they make games because there IS a lot, like, a LOT. but the biggest discussion now basically being "graphics are more important than gameplay or story or anything else" seems like the entire game fan sphere regressed somewhat

when im barely able to afford groceries in the day to day and then see people have enough money to destroy expensive things i cant help but be incredibly envious. like i WISH i was in a similar spot in life........

i focused specifically on revealing clothes cuz thats something i myself enjoy (both for myself irl, and for any OC of mine) but that applies to like, any argument about a character's facts that are contradicted by the actual character's actions themselves. like "they wouldnt DO that" but, they do

unless the character shows discomfort with it, then its within their character to do so no matter which other personality traits they got besides that.

"i cant believe the creator drew this character wearing revealing clothes, they would NEVER wear that!!" but like, they do. the character dresses that way, thats as valid a character trait as any.

theres times and places for, for example, feminist critique of female designs and the such, in fact it could be very important to do so, but its always weird to me when fans of a thing construct an image of a character that straight up goes against the way the character actually is shown to be?
