Definitely Only for Dogs: Ring's Superbowl Commercial (Parody)
YouTube video by Wyze Definitely Only for Dogs: Ring's Superbowl Commercial (Parody)

Definitely only for dogs; just trust us. Wink, wink....

I have never considered Ring products because of their long history of privacy abuse and being owned by Amazon. I do have several Wyze cams, including my bird feeder cam.

So what I want to know is, has Mick Jagger ever seen the silent Dancing in the Street video?

YouTube removed β€œsort by upload date” to prevent users from bypassing algorithmic ranking.

They did that so that they can control what you watch, push adictive content and advertising.

fucking youtube removed the ability to sort by upload date.

So using youtube to find the earliest upload or just anything uploaded more recently in like the past 2 years is basically impossible now.

YouTube's removal of the sort by upload date feature, to instead push algorithmic content, is an abuse of power and market position.

YouTube (and Google) has an affective monopoly on long form content distribution and are using that to control what people can see.

YouTube should be regulated.

Yeah so many weired ways of using it. A very underated little box.

You can set the gain control so parts aren't heard dry and only go through the Wave Guide. Combine that with a high tempo and you can use it as a very strange chromatic instrument.

The more I play with it the deeper it gets.

TIL: Korg's first product was called the "Donca-Matic" as an onomatopoeic reference to the sound it made.

That's lovely. :D

Wish there were more modern instruments with names like that. It tells you everything you need to know; it goes "Donc".

My perfect cinema would probably run all the Moviedrome films including the introductions.

That's true but still, it always seems like I'm entering my password with Fedora.

Don't get me wrong thought, Fedora is still really great.

For a long time I ran Fedora, and I still think it's a great Linux distro, but going back to Ubuntu I really notice now much better it is at updates.

Fedora was always asking to reboot the whole system. Ubuntu updates and just keeps ticking along unless it's the kernel.

Now that the Korg Volca FM 2 is out, prices for used original 3 voice versions are getting pretty low.

I'm very tempted to pick one up.

For me it would be a toy (because I don't know what I'm doing) and if I do need more polyifiny I guess I could just get an FM 2.

Hmm, ...I should get one!

This isn't satire. No jokes. This is the President of the United States telling Norway that he's going to take Greenland from Denmark because Norway didn't give him a peace prize.
This isn't Orange Man Bad. This is Orange Man Mad.

Haha, I guess the only way to fight back would be to hire an even creepier AI voice service to take the calls on your behalf.

"Some people are saying I'm the AI with the creepiest voice. So creepy, and it's absolutely huge. A lot of people are talking about it. So much creepier than Joe Biden."

100% with you on that. So much of this stuff seems like a cheap "data play" that I'm very wary of it.

I think cloning voice traits for the purpose of influencing behaviour will sadly be a big thing.

Every AI call-centre will have a voice you trust because they've cloned the people you love.

:(

That's a good use case.

When it first came out I thought I'd use it for exactly that but at the time it was server only and so with poor reception it was a real pain to use.

I turned it off and have done ever since even though I work quite a bit with LLMs now.

I'm pretty privacy concious and I don't really like AI assistants but if this is just running on the phone I don't see the problem.

Apple are probably just licensing a better version of the open weight models you can download and run yourself.

Worry about things going to the cloud not this.

This doesn't surprise me too much. Google's open Gemma models are really good, especially the smaller ones.

e.g. Functiongema 270M is exceptional for the amount of compute it uses.

Just running Google's models doesn't mean data is going to Google though. This is running all on device.
