But I’ve got some writing ideas about online research and the benefits of embedding this more into research methods curriculums, and I think that crosses over both my research and teaching backgrounds, so it may be a good starting place.

For me part of it stems from the fact that my writing used to be from a researcher perspective. I’m now at a teaching focused place with no research time and I feel like I’ve never learnt to write from a T&S perspective. I’m finding my academic identity again, and this impacts my writing confidence.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to this Jim! I agree that it feels like something is missing without writing, so I think writing without worrying about whether it’s for other eyes is probably a good start. I’d encourage you to give it another go too!

I like this idea, and it links in with @aidanhorner.bsky.social’s suggestion point about how it doesn’t need to be published. Maybe I need to focus on writing for me and then seeing what happens afterwards, rather than writing with a wider goal first.

I'm not quite sure when I let that voice have more weight rather than just ignoring it and writing anyway. I miss the boldness I had when I was a PhD student!

I've been wanting to write again recently but I keep getting that little self-doubt voice that says 'you've got nothing interesting to say' and 'nobody will be interested anyway'.

Maybe it's time to just push through the discomfort and get writing again regardless of the little self-doubt voice!

Just read this on the lack of digital skills, which isn't new but reinforces experience in the classroom & should be a further nail in the coffin to idea that students are "digital natives" means anything other than they have probably grown up near connected devices.

As an academic with endometriosis I sometimes struggle navigating academia with such a frustrating and misunderstood chronic condition.

I find myself wondering if there’s enough support for students dealing with this condition, especially now so many are having to juggle jobs alongside studying.

It should hopefully be working again now 😊

In our department we have communication preference sheets which encourage us to reflect on how we like to receive feedback, be communicated with, be given tasks, etc. We can then share them with the teams we work most closely with. They can be handy!

Does anyone know of a (preferable accessible) guide to understanding / building cognitive tasks? You have software specific books like Building Experiments in PsychoPy, but I'm looking for more of a dummy's guide to tasks to think about trial structure, responses etc.

Nothing like dealing with cognitive conflict resolution just to understand an indicator light!

I had the private appointment with a consultant on Saturday and she requested an MRI.

Today I had that MRI and I already have the follow up booked in.

I feel so grateful to have access to this medical care, but it’s also so disheartening to see the disparity in timelines.
