FRANKENSTEIN is definitely a movie. a good movie? well…
the way the information takes a moment to really process because it's shown almost in passing, so casually, it hit me even harder. and then Moura effortlessly slipping into playing the older son? and the conversation about memory? christ.
the more i think about it the more i feel The Secret Agent ought to win Best Picture, but it won't. i'm worried it won't even win International, it seemed like the frontrunner but Sentimental Value has picked up a lot of steam. and i liked Sentimental Value a lot, but......... The Secret Agent.
i can't remember the last time i watched a film where everyone not just felt, but *looked* like real people. the film is just so effortlessly full of unique faces, different body types, a wide range of ages, all of them so interesting. it's so refreshing and adds so so much to that lived-in feeling.
Loved this movie: the *feel* of it alone: you live with these characters; Recife seems like a place you visited
