I learned this lesson when Milo Yannopoulis was a thing, and I realised all I was doing by sharing his latest outrage was spreading it for him. All the offended people amplify his message and help it reach the small audience he's looking for.

The spelling of quay makes me angry. Why did we switch to the French word when we already had 'key' and it's pronounced 'key'? I have to correct my inner narration every time I read the word. Oh buoy.

Even setting all that aside, AI is rubbish at maintaining consistency over the long term, plotting, maintaining consistent characterisation. Preference upon reviewing short excerpts proves absolutely nothing.

Maybe there's also an element of drive time thinking resulting in a rant they want to get on from before it fades? I feel like alone time in the car is similar to shower time in giving time to think.

That's intriguing! I don't know what it is about my upbringing, but I very quickly get squicked by uncritical affirmation and it makes me switch off. I find Gemini isn't as bad for it in my interactions as other models, but as always you get wacky results the longer a specific conversation goes on.

Sinterklaas In Een Raket (feat. Joris & Boris) YouTube video by Gebroeders Ko - Topic

... and got some Sinterklaas song, but I don't think this is the original source of that riff. "Gebroeders Ko Sinterklaas In Een Raket" youtu.be/kb0VwySfgmE (oh, content warning, Black Pete is on the front cover of that album).

This is driving me mad, can anyone tell me what the kid's song referenced or at least similar to the beginning of The Mountain by Gorillaz is? It's the bit that goes, "dah da dah, dah dah dah, dah dah da da da da dah, dah dah dah, dah dah dah, dah da dee dee dah dah dah". I hummed it into Google...

Oh, and you can also build card decks.

That would be pretty easy in Foundry with its tile and drawing tools,

An image of the Magic: The Gatherine Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Commander deck called "Turtle Power." It has a price tag of £62.99 and the illustration on the box is of the our TMNT brothers in a dramatic pose, each of them wielding their signature weapons. The box is lying on the back of a couch and has been opened.

@amazonchique.bsky.social This is your fault.

I love Nobilis second edition so much. The book is a work of art. My favourite experience in running it, though frustrating at the time, was dealing with a player who chose to be the Power of Nothing. Resolving what happened when he did a Greater Destruction of Nothing was pretty interesting.

Pinky And The Brain Theme - Postmodern Jukebox (ft. Emily Goglia, Rob Paulsen, Maurice LaMarche) YouTube video by PostmodernJukebox

You could just link them to this next time and watch their brain explode.

But Rob Paulsen did voice Pinky and Raphael and Donatello, which is a completely different cartoon, NARF!

It's great to see some 2012 references. It took me a minute to get used to the art style, but this is now my favourite incarnation of the turtles ever. Greg Cipes IS Mikey.

I was complaining today about AI pep talks for the Friday Feel Good messages on a company intranet. It just feels so hollow and dystopian.

Is that because you can have mantis blades in CP2077 but not in real life? My favourite build is absolutely lethal with a katana and can kill almost anything in a single hit. It's... cathartic.

The story with his dog was affecting, but the film completely missed the point... which was I think due to studio meddling, as they had hinted at the proper ending at points during the story. What a disappointment.

No Kings, No Masters! Which is something the pictsies from the Pratchett books would relate to.

I think it's hard for me to separate which is my favourite, except that it's not "City of Last chances". There are elements of each of them that I really love, and together they form a mosaic that's greater than the sum of its parts for me. I swear Adrian is getting more poetic with each book, too.

Finished "Pretenders to the Throne of God" by @aptshadow.bsky.social - Absolutely loved it. It felt like a slightly more focused version of "City of Last Chances", with a similar ensemble cast and tapestry of interweaving events. Overall, each novel builds on the last, and I'm loving the series.

Deloitte allegedly cited AI-generated research in a million-dollar report for a Canadian provincial government | Fortune In a healthcare report aimed to address a nurse and doctor shortage, Deloitte cited several fake studies with real researchers’ names attached.

And then find out later that some little detail it researched or consolidated into the deck is a dangerous hallucination, costing the company more money than if you'd just researched it properly in the first place?

In the same way nobody really wants Reacher or Bond to suffer major defeats, because the appeal of those stories is mostly competence porn, I'm unsure all players want to be challenged vs romping through fun and exciting adventures where they mostly or always get to succeed without meaningful risks.

Not being antagonistic, but is there evidence for the stance that it isn't fun to win all the time for a significant number of people?

This ties into the thought that GMs have to challenge their players/characters. After years of GMing, I wonder if this may be begging the question for some players.

John Le Mesurier as Sergeant Wilson in "Dad's Army", dressed in his Home Guard uniform and looking like he's about to give a slightly mischievous and misleading explanation to Captain Mainwaring.

I'm really enjoying it so far. By the way, this is who I think of every time I see Quellery on the page.

Yes, and amusingly the Google AI search results think that M- Jack [original name of] and D-Jack are completely separate characters. I swear I've seen some of the Pals in this book in HoOW and DoSF but I feel like I'm hallucinating.

@aptshadow.bsky.social My terrible memory is making my struggle a little with your chameleonic characters... is Vestry someone we've seen in a previous novel? I was thinking it was Loret but had forgotten her name, but Vestry feels like a very familiar name too...

For some reason I'm pathologically squicked out by people who agree with me all the time on everything without any need for me to convince them, and who never push back against my arguments etc., so with the way the models currently are they wouldn't work on me!
