Text reads: Alastor leaned forward in his seat slightly, ever-present grin widening a little. The glee seems to color his eyes further and further as the orphans begin to argue amongst themselves. Alastor chuckled to himself a lot at this song, and seemed too invested in what was going on to notice the uncomfortable shifting around him in the theatre, the murmuring of the people around them. "You know, they really should have made it a cat," Alastor remarked to Ethel a moment later as the protagonist befriended a dog. "Don't you think a cat would be so much better?" Text reads: Then the man agrees to help the girl find her parents, and in order to do so, he took her to a radio station as the set changed. Alastor's eyes widened slightly as he leaned in more. "Oh, this wasn't in the comic!" The girl was standing in front of a microphone now, on a box to reach it, next to an actor dressed in a brown vest and tie. She finishes her musical plea to find her parents, and the audience applauds. "Thank you, Annie. On Garlemald’s favorite radio program, the Oxydent Hour of Smiles, starring your old softy, Bert Healy!" The actor announced into the microphone, in a similar accent and voice to Alastor's own. "Hahaha!" Alastor said, joy absolutely lighting up his expression. "Oh, I like this guy!" His lower eyelids lift up and he leans back in his seat justtt far enough to lift up his legs and kick like a delighted schoolboy while the radio host talked with the little orphan girl at the center of the story. Glares from the people around them got him to stop a moment later, and he leaned forward instead as a new tune started up. Text reads: "Hey, hobo man! Hey, Dapper Dan! You've both got your style! But brother, you're never fully dressed without a smile!" The radio host character sang on the stage. "Ohohoho!" Alastor's eyes practically became stars. "What a delightful tune!" Another character held up an applause sign, and Alastor clapped like a madman. "Oh, thank you, thank you!" The actor offered, then kept singing. "Your clothes may be high quality, they stand out a mile- but brother, you're never fully dressed without a smile!" Alastor let out another round of mirthful laughter, then began humming to the tune, bouncing in his seat as he waved his index finger like a conductor's wand. "Who cares what they're wearing, on Main Street, or Saville Row? It's what you wear from ear to ear, and not from head to toe, that matters!" As the actor began to tap dance, Alastor looked like he was two seconds from trying to join in from his narrow auditorium seat. Ethel leans over, head resting on Alastor’s shoulder to both stun and keep him in his seat. She knows he’ll get up and start dancing if he wants to and while she has no qualms about it, they will surely get kicked out.

Since I get to do some timebending occasionally for being a funny AU, I'm having fun with a scene of Alastor getting to attend the first showing of Annie premiering in his lifetime and having a moment of pure joy at his favorite song for the first time. IT'S SO CUTE. I WILL ALLOW HIM THIS. #Alastor

He then launches into Swingrovers- No Strings Attached while inverting the lights to neon and shows the fuck off. He also throws the guys' phone across the room on 'delete your social profile now'.

There's also an arcade downstairs. One of these idiots tries the claw machine and can't win. I headcanon Al as stupidly good with those (they did get popular during the Depression). He steps forward and offers to win it for the man if one of his friends makes a deal with him for five favors.

PIZZA PLACE. Someone asks Al if he should order one of every pizza. Al says why not, then walks away to claim a table so he doesn't pay for it. Someone else gets stuck footing the bill. Alastor proceeds to eat most of the pizzas because the other three people there got distracted with each other.
