What a monstrous win for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The heart and the fight that they showed throughout this one was something else. Everyone answered the call, especially Chinakhov. He made that OT winner happen.
I’m very glad that the Penguins don’t have to face this team again. Their style of play bores me to tears. Reminds me so much of a lesser premier league team just sitting in a low block. Despicable hockey.

That is absolutely hilarious and untrue. Joe's just the messenger (and does great work!) but they botched that.
I still cannot get over that play from Malkin. I don’t care how bad you got cross checked. You’re in the heat of a playoff race and are without your captain. You have to keep your composure.
The NHL will deny it every single time it gets brought up, but there is a league wide officiating problem and it continues to get worse each season.

Getting closer and closer to another potential Penguins-Islanders playoff series
That was a hell of a response by the Penguins after yesterday’s setback. Outside of the first few minutes, they controlled play and suffocated the Golden Knights. Special teams were once again dominant.
Overall, that’s now 5/6 points without Crosby. Another busy week looms.
Todd Nelson must have worked overtime during the break because the power play looks infinitely better right now. Cleaner zone entries, more of a shoot-first mentality, crisp puck movement, and a pure net-front presence.

Pens have lost 12 of last 13 shootouts.
Pens have lost 12 of last 13 road shootouts.
Pens have lost 9 straight road shootouts.
Pens have converted 7 of their last 33 SO shots.
Pens have converted 1 of last 22 road SO shots.
The Penguins will still be in second place heading into March. That is the good part. However, the final 30 minutes of regulation were unacceptable. You cannot get out-played by a team that has nothing to play for like that.
Did not care for the back half of that second period. When you have a team pinned down, you have to go for the kill shot. Can’t leave any room for error. Let’s see how they respond in the third
