If you round the way we do in canada, you round up or round down depending on what nickel value is closest. Basically comes out even over the course of a week or a month. and if you pay with a card, you pay the exact amount without rounding. Getting rid of pennies is actually sensible.
I agree. We got rid of pennies in canada long ago and no one misses them. Actually saves government a lot of $ not to produce them. The rounding concern is not an issue.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a clause in the contract about rising prices out of control of the company. Sadly, the fine print can really screw customers. Also, when the oil is delivered, I assume throughout the cold months, there will be tariffs. It is a moving target for Canadian companies.
