I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

It was really satisfying to have to play so honestly because of the lack of bombs. I feel like I really learned the game.
Also lol this always happens to me. Why can’t my high score be my 1-all?! I do wish shmups rewarded the clear more points-wise.

FUCKING FINALLY got my DDP BL clear with EXY! This took me such a long time and definitely the most challenging clear I’ve done so far. Insanely perfect game. #shmup #STG #1cc
Bullet hell is a genre that has an optics problem. The genre name and their aesthetics make them appear crazy hard when compared to traditional shmups, but give a player an hour with Gradius and DoDonPachi back to back and 9/10 times the player will say DDP is the easier game.
This sentiment is just…factually incorrect. Nothing about bullet hell makes them fundamentally more difficult than traditional shmups, and in fact many are actually easier because of slower bullets and smaller hitboxes. Also, despite being a “big fan” of Ikaruga and RS, he’s never played them?
Oh no that should be good then. I would look into the different versions and trying original and maniac as well. I’m also unsure how emulation slowdown is compared to the ports, but the steam port is pretty feature-rich and accurate.

Got my The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors 1cc tonight with Kamaitachi. First beat em’ up 1cc ever for me! Wasn’t as revelatory as my first shmup 1cc, but very satisfying and enjoyable nonetheless. #arcade #1cc

On the arcade grind. Best genres of all time.
Definitely my biggest problem with the game as well. Reminds me or when I cleared Mahou. Having all the difficulty at the end just makes the game annoying to clear and makes the game feel slower and more of a slog.

Recovery in classic shmups is such a sticking point for me. I still see something as hard as a cave 2-all being “fair”, but a classic shmup that is nigh impossible after a single death is bad difficulty imo. Most I can handle is something like thunder force 4 where you lose one type of weapon.
Lunatic Dawn won’t even show up for me lol. I looked at gameplay footage and like…what is this? I’m very curious
First time making it to Hibachi in Black Label! With Exy no less! Of course I flubbed it immediately with two bombs stocked still, but am happy to have reached here nonetheless. I really need to practice stage 4 (the trains especially) and stage 5 (beehive section) more.

Weirdly these are just the first ones that popped into my head. Didn’t want to go too crazy on shmup soundtracks though.
I think because genre literacy for shmups is actually quite low. People take one look and think they get it, but it’s a genre that hides a lot of its depth and nuance below the surface.
