And I can see some Red on there, and red signifies ripe berries and other fruit so it MUST be practically a health-food!

Yes, and it's probably a weird nerdy side of me poking out but I remember thinking many times the structural engineering skills and manpower required to create lots of the later stuff was preposterous

A picture of a cream colored rat sitting in a brightly colored hammock. Only the rat's face and the front part of a paw are visible.

Some cuteness from the archives.

My sister and I once cooked a goose for Christmas. Our favorite part was the stern instructions on our goose to remove excess fat frequently to avoid a fire hazard. Geese can even get revenge from beyond the grave? Badass.

Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day?

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead πŸ“š

Went with a mate to see Aliens at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performing the soundtrack, it was SO good and great to see it on the big screen. They even created sound effects like chittering noises by clattering the bows against the bodies of cellos & violins

Absolutely, with those. But yeah it definitely makes sense to watch as much different stuff as you can so you get a good range of stuff under your belt.
As you've done the whole original Evil Dead trilogy, the TV series is also one to note down and tuck away for far-future viewing, it's _very_ good

My full list of horror and horror adjacent movies seen that I started last October.

A mighty fine list. Are Alien and Aliens on the future viewing list? Again, Aliens is definitely one to stretch the no sequels rule for as it's a very different style of horror to Alien, and they're both exceptional (and make sure you watch the director's cuts of them, esp Aliens)

07.10.2025 20:24 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The thing with "No sequels" is that there are many series where at least some of the sequels are also excellent, so if I were you I'd try to be a bit flexible on that, but I can also understand why it's a good policy to get through as much stuff as possible

07.10.2025 20:20 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, definitely at least watch Dawn Of The Dead, but the other ones are also good, too. Dawn Of The Dead is another one where the modem remake is well done, too, for down-the-line when you've watched a lot more stuff.

trying to lock in for the rest of October and watch more weird old horror movies. yesterday was Texas chain saw massacre 1974, and today was House 1985. both deeply unusual films that were pretty good despite and because of their low budget goofiness.

07.10.2025 19:14 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Always love another watch of TCM, esp the "family dinner" scene. The modern remake was surprisingly good, too (though the dark disturbing side of the original is still the best)
