I’m so impressed by the outreach of compassion from the members of this community; You prove the haters wrong every time you come out to display humanity like this in droves. You are so beautiful for that.

On a different note, because I know a lot of cool queer folks:

shinigamieyes has been weaponized against intersex/nonbinary/and trans folks who don’t fall in with radfem talking points for a LONG time now

So Stripe is breaking anti-discrimination laws in the UK then.

Hey, UK lawyers, maybe it's time to start dragging any UK side of Stripe into courts.

Authoritarian regimes are notorious for making people think what they perceive to be reality is not actually real. Sometimes this is called creating "unreality" sometimes "gas-lighting." It doesn't matter which label is used, the goal is the same: make people doubt what they see with their own eyes.

that Barack Obama did not simply hand the presidency to Mitt Romney - that he had the temerity to run an effective campaign against the man - is one of the most-cited reasons for the turn to Trump

the entire conservative ethos is Look What You Made Me Do

Both laws are unique in ways that may limit immediate threats. SD has a notice and cure provision; Wyoming's is limited to material that is "obscene", though as we've seen in libraries these are fungible terms among conservative activists.

But it's a sign of what's to come.

Wyoming and South Dakota Age Verification Laws Could Include Huge Parts of the Internet By omitting the "one-third" provision that most other states with age verification laws have adopted, Wyoming and South Dakota are placing the burden of verifying users' ages on all sorts of websites,...

US age-verification requirements are now going far beyond "porn."

Two of the most recent states to enact legislation require face scans or other verification measures for *any* site with *any* amount of "material harmful to minors" β€” including Amazon, Reddit, Discord, Twitter and Netflix.

Lesbian teen cornered by server in bathroom and forced to prove gender files charges Gerika Mudra, 18, says a Buffalo Wild Wings waiter made her show her breasts to prove she could use the women's restroom.

13 Jul 25 -- An 18 y/o biracial cis lesbian is suing a MN Buffalo Wild Wings after a waiter followed her into restroom, saying "This is a women’s restroom. The man needs to get out of here." She only left after the woman displayed her clothed breasts. @rikiwilchins.bsky.social

There's a term for that: ethnic cleansing.

Israel is openly planning ethnic cleansing, AGAIN. Not that they've been subtle about it so far, but jesus fucking christ they are openly planning ETHNIC CLEANSING.

Hi Itch, author of the original article here. Thanks for ignoring my repeated requests to comment, and then coming out of the woodwork days later to claim that my article - which verified each game's indexing status independently - is 'full of misinformation.'

You're full of it. (thread)

Generative Al is being marketed as a tool designed to reduce or eliminate the need for developed, cognitive skillsets. It uses the work of others to simulate human output, except that it lacks grasp of nuance, contains grievous errors, and ultimately serves the goal of human beings being neurologically weaker due to the promise of the machine being better equipped than the humans using it would ever exert the effort to be.

The people that use generative Al for art have no interest in being an artist; they simply want product to consume and forget about when the next piece of product goes by their eyes. The people that use generative Al to make music have no interest in being a musician; they simply want a machine to make them something to listen to until they get bored and want the machine to make some other disposable slop for them to pass the time with.

The people that use generative Al to write things for them have no interest in writing. The people that use generative Al to find factoids have no interest in actual facts. The people that use generative Al to socialize have no interest in actual socialization.

In every case, they've handed over the cognitive load of developing a necessary, creative human skillset to a machine that promises to ease the sweat equity cost of struggle. Using generative Al is like asking a machine to lift weights on your behalf and then calling yourself a bodybuilder when it's done with the reps. You build nothing in terms of muscle, you are not stronger, you are not faster, you are not in better shape.

You're just deluding yourself while experiencing a slow decline due to self-inflicted atrophy.

re: generative AI

I have finally fully and accurately explained my problem with how it’s marketed and used.

And now, you can use it, too.

No lie, this calling campaign is one of the most effective levers we have at the moment.

If we sustain the campaign through the financial quarter we'll be sending a strong message that this administration is bad for business.

Please continue making censorship unprofitable.

More and more people reporting today that Stripe - the payment processor that Itch said were putting the most pressure on them - now have staff actively confirming that yes, they are censoring LGBT content, adult or otherwise. That this is official company policy.

This seems kinda significant.

Stripe crossed a line now.

Call up whatever local LGBT organizations exist in your area, gay activist groups, gay bars, pride organizing committees, folks who schedule drag shows, queer church groups, everyone.

Also libraries and bookstores.

Show up in person to talk to any business using Stripe.

The UK speedran straight from porn to educational material in the regulation-to-censorship pipeline. We were warning people of this kind of thing but it happened faster than I expected.

I think an important thing to learn is that being nice and being good are not the same thing. You don't always have to be nice to be a good person, and just because someone's nice doesn't mean they're a good person. Never let anyone push you around y'all πŸ’

Why Labour's Online Safety Act has become a political nightmare The Online Safety Act's broad and vaguely defined scope has led to widespread and seemingly indiscriminate censorship.

How bad is the Online Safety Act roll out going?

UK officials have started spreading rumors that it's the internet's fault β€” accusing sites like Reddit and Twitter of purposely overcensoring to undermine the unpopular censorship law.

That's Trump-firing-economist-for-reporting-bad-numbers bad.
