Children’s book illustration by Sadee Schilling in graphite and charcoal plus digital color. A glowing nighttime scene in blues and violets with a young girl in a wheelchair wearing a bunny costume. She spies three real rabbits in the pumpkin patch while soft lights hang amongst golden leaves and fiery lights twinkle among the sage blossoms.

Couldn’t resist updating this favorite with an elusive white rabbit to celebrate the fluffy tail-end of fall! I have lots of ideas brewing & this time of the year is my fav time to cozy up & dream of making magical kidlit projects with an agent/AD/editor team. #kidlitartpostcard

My whole heart goes out to anyone who is putting *their whole heart* into making things that matter to them and trying with all their might to share those things with other people. Expressing the truth is worthy fight. The true value gain is knowledge of self.

This too is an act of resistance.

Anyone can become disabled.

Anyone can lose their job.

Anyone can become homeless.

Anyone can go hungry.

These are not moral failings. They can happen in an instant.

Most people are far closer to living in poverty than they realize.

We must fight for one another & for the most vulnerable.

Graphic that has this quote: "I think i think a lot is a powerful story of empathy, compassion, and acceptance. Whipple writes beautifully of OCD from a child's perspective and invites the reader into the intricacies of this world. I love this book so much because Whipple makes us think a lot, too, and we're so much better because of it. - Jordan Scott, poet and author of I talk like a river.

It's #OCDAwarenessWeek so I'll share poet and author Jordan Scott's very kind blurb about I THINK I THINK A LOT. It's inspired by my own #OCD.

You got it, Millie! That’s exactly how I work when I’m making a collage like this owl. I love watercolor and prefer to have fun with its textures and messy blooms rather than paint inside the lines. πŸ˜‚ Then I cut out the pieces and puzzle them together, one at a time.

I know a lot of kids who need this book! Younger me would have also benefited so much from permission to re-write some of the rules. πŸ’•

Great Horned Owl art by Sadee Schilling rendered in watercolor and cut paper collage. The artist holds the finished assemblage with detailed, layered feathers and textured watercolor washes in earthy blues, violets, and browns. A watercolor painting of a tree in a similar color palette peeks out from behind the owl.

I’ve been regulating my nervous system this week and warming up for a commission with this new great-horned owl cut paper #collage. It’s likely one of the only #calmtober prompts I’ll get to, though I’m still enjoying everyone else’s illustrations! #watercolor #cutpaper #owl #calmtober25

The kids loved it! It’s such a good idea to switch to the witch because of braces. This time of year is so much fun, no matter how old they get!

@evierichner.bsky.social I use blues and violets so frequently that my critique partners have given them *signature color* status. I HAVE heard it said that purple people have the tendency to make the color their whole personality. πŸ˜‚
