Black and white ink illustration. In the middle of the frame is one of my characters, a vietnamese trans woman. Here she is wearing expensive looking ao nhat binh (a vietnamese dress) reminiscent of princess's wear, though without jewelry or makeup. Despite having most of her hair put up in a wide-brimmed turban, a single thin and long braid drapes perfectly straight over one of her shoulders. Suspended between her fingers is a long and ancient looking firearm, held delicately with all the elegance of a violinist's bow. The design is based loosely on 19th century matchlock guns of maritime southeast asia, although I dont know how to draw guns. She has no discernible expression and strides forward unwaveringly into thick forest. Above the woman's head hangs the beak of a massive elephant-sized rooster, its feathered moon-like body matching her stride behind her. The rooster's dangly beak things are close enough to brush her forehead, and the rest of its head is off-frame. Tendril whiskers sprout from its head and curl throughout the drawing. Flanking either side of the woman are two imperial guards, polearms drawn and pointing forwards into the jungle. The rooster beast is drawn with an ink brush, the guards with a fine pen, and the woman a combination of both. On one side of the drawing is a caption written vertically in a fictional language.
