Ah.
Crucially, everyone also knows that the troops love when they're very obviously being fed bullshit and are big fans of it.

Feels strange having a president who's a physical manifestation of your country's sins. Watching him rot and grow more grotesque by the day
hey its whiskey friday with tony dokoupil what do you want from me
Anyway mmm old fashioned.
At this point, the greatest threat to the existence of the State of Israel is their own hubris more than anything else.
The longer they keep launching campaign after campaign after campaign against everyone in their neighborhood, eventually they bite off more than they can chew and choke on it.
I think the way Israel has been able to make this work since October 7th is a combination of heavy U.S. support and dumb luck. But they literally cannot pursue this forever and I think us becoming more embroiled in Iran actually hastens the possibility of it finally catching them in the blow-back.
Since October 7th, Israel's two guiding foreign policy/defense beliefs appear to have been: A.) the only way we can be safe is to wage endless war in order to ensure no coherent enemy state (or quasi state) exists within 1,000km radius of us; and B.) we will be able to sustain this indefinitely.
I think that limit exists and that they've even danced to it closely several times since October 7th - in large part fueled by the effect it had on Israel and its already heavily skewed sense of risk and reward. I think they've been high on their own supply for a while and it will be their undoing.
I think that losing stuff outside the immediate AO is going to be apart of the game going forward and there isnβt a lot you can do about it
Good thing we have plenty of those sitting around!
one of the great many things i hate about donald trump and this second administration is that the social media posting is so much more stupid, bombastic and illiterate this time around, it's almost a parody of the first admin

Let there be as much outrage from politicians in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I break bread with New Yorkers.
one reason i'm kind of bullish on a governor for 2028 (not *that* governor) is that i want someone who is not going to be shy about shaming and bullying congress β the senate in particular β into doing their fucking jobs, and governors love nothing more than shitting on the legislature's heads

what i want to see out of future democratic party leaders is a recognition that federal spending is legitimately good, that we should do more of it, and that doing so will require collective contribution that many, many people are going to scream absolute bloody murder about
it's not just going to be serious debt people, tbh, like, it is actually going to a capital P problem by the time a dem takes office, not a made-up one, and anyone running for office this year or in two years is going to have to be part of a solution, we actually *can't* kick the can much further
it feels like a lot of Dems are suddenly trying "we can run a robust social safety net by only taxing rich people and corporations" messaging and that is
a) not a great message, in that we should all contribute
b) not actually true, math-wise
Yeah but that was for woke reasons this is for based reasons.
Huh
