Its such a shame that they only did the costume gimmick once

The final battle against Fengr and Johela.

#gamedesign #oc #pixelart #characterdesign #indiegamedev

confession, the main reason the game has 2 antagonists is so they could pair up into a dual boss in their final fight like ornstein and smough from dark souls.

Through that's technically only the last phase of the fight. (>40% health)

I'm reminded of leda line in Elden ring about the horn sent "they were never saints, just on the losing side of a war, but it's still a damn shame." The native civilisation being flawed or conquerors themselves doesn't make the atrocities they endured okay.

🧡 (1/X)

There's a moment every creator dreads: when someone explains your own work back to you

For me, that moment came when a Spaniard saw #KOKOTΓ–NA and went on a mini rant about how the Aztecs were ACKSHULLY a colonizing empire who subjugated neighboring peoples and practiced human sacrifice

Hmmm, I don't think dark soul 2 has a poison swamp? It instead goes for a poison mine, a poison tower and a cave with way too much poison spitting statues....I do appreciate them trying to vary up the poison levels and not just default to swamps through

Seems to be a case of getting yourself stuck in your brand. He's supposed to be a Nintendo YouTuber but doesn't really care for their games all that much anymore. There ain't much way out of that beyond doing the hard work of branching out

I'm not surprised. For all its issues, Dark soul 2 tried a lot harder to balance thing out and offered plenty of covenants with unique gimmicks. In comparison, the other games didn't try much to make it work and even made things worse in some ways

Sedentary is a sit and survive game, originally made for phisnom' s toxic terror gamejam. In this game, you play as mr grumble, a shady old man, using carnivorous plants to protect himself from the governments as it tries to remove him from his home.

its like all the worst aspects of being a contractor with none of the bennefits

and yet, that aspect of it is one that i do kind of miss. The other games are often too fair, too nice, and that remove the unpredictability of it.

If someone gets in the lead in those later games, there not nearly as much stuff to pull them back, while 1 was a constant struggle.

Mario party 1 is a fairly peculiar game in the series because of just how brutal and cutthroat it is compared to everything that came after.

Its easy to forget how 3v1 minigames actually had players stole coins from each other in that one, and the coin minigame especially was brutal because of it.

Last of the Big Ultrakill lore spoilers down here: !!!!

------

i think that is one of the best way to handle the subject. Because frankly, you cant justify hell. The simple fact that god in ultrakill can admit it should never have been made makes him league better than the one in christianity.

MORE Big Ultrakill lore spoilers down here: !!!!

--------

In several data entries, its made clear that god created hell in a moment of frustration, but in his anger, he ended up creating something beyond his ability to unmake.

and he feels an enormous ammount of shame and guilt for it.

Big Ultrakill lore spoilers down here: !!!!

------

Ultrakill manage to actually make god sympathetic, because in that story, he isn't perfect. He does make mistake and those mistakes have terrible consequences.

Creating hell was one such mistake, one that god never forgave himself for.

More potential Ultrakill spoilers:

------

The christian god often is a very big exemple of this, because there a lot about the religion and its mythology thats iffy at best and fucked up at worst, such as hell. But because hes god, it cant be a mistake, and therefore, he comes off as a monster.

Warning, will contain spoilers for Ultrakill and its Lore:

-----

One ironic aspect of writing something as morally perfect is that it tend to result in it coming off as way more evil. Because any weird actions or beliefs now becomes something unquestionable. It now cant be just a mistake.

Maybe she believes kids should also learn about other culture and their mythology? Today hell, tommorow Vahalla!

my main idea with this one is that i wanted to start including at least one boss with each of my game that has nothing to do with the main story and world, instead serving purely to build up the interconnected lore of my games.

Im hoping it offer some nice speculation fodder.

I got exactly 30 bosses planned for blood&flames, about half of them being optional.

Since the game is fairly linear, i kept most of them a short detour away, but there is one secret fight you will find by backtracking to an early area at the very end.

Well the whole journey is pretty much set up by gwyndolyn so a powerful undead would sacrifice themselves to the first flame and keep the age of fire going a little longer.

So its not really convenience that they are there. Its all part of the plan to make you feel special.

probably one of the best rebbutal of this bullshit i have seen. Its clear they dont buy their own argument since they arent pondering the actual consequences of it.

I disagree, if they did think that way they would feel fucked up about how they are enslaving the AI by forcing it to write their stupid prompts.

You don't believe Claude is actually conscious and neither does anyone else. Because if you actually considered it a living intellect, you would feel some pause and shame about exploiting for labor and personal amusement. You would be horrified by its status as property.

and i also think that the sheer number of people who didnt vote cant really be put on leftist. We arent nearly that huge of a demographic.

Yeah, people say all sorts of different things and i cant really find a document that categorize voters by political affiliation so i guess we`re just guessing at what happened.

but from my own experience, leftists do vote democrats, even if they hate that they have to do it.
