Join us next week for our Sunrise 101 training to learn all about the Sunrise Movement, what we're working on here in Portland, and how you can get involved NOW to end the oligarchy, fight for a Green New Deal, and make billionaires pay.

Sunrise PDX will be at Sunday Parkways this summer! First stop is this weekend in SW Portland on May 18th. Join us at SW Capitol Dr and SW 41st for snacks, activities, and an art build, where we'll be making signs and banners to use at future actions. See you there!
Join Sunrise PDX tomorrow to learn more about Portland’s new budget as we prepare to testify this Wednesday.
We will provide an overview of their proposals on climate, transportation and public safety- come with questions and concerns so we can collaboratively advocate for our communities!
Politicians need to know how our current transportation system affects Portlanders. We're collaborating with @portlanddsa.bsky.social to host a town hall that gives transit users a chance to speak directly to elected officials and advocate for a better transportation system in our community.
NO MEETING THIS WEEK: Instead, join us at the @portlandclimatestrike at 11 am on Tuesday, April 22nd, at City Hall. Are there other Earth Day events you're going to? Reply in this thread to share what's going on in the community!
It's the beginning of the month, which means it's time to mark your calendars with upcoming community events! From Portland to Eugene, April has all kinds of rallies, social events, and advocacy opportunities to get involved in.
The Hands Off march? If so, yes! We're promoting it and planning on being there. If it's something else, let us know the details!
The time to join the movement is NOW. Fill out our interest form at linktr.ee/sunrisepdx and check our public calendar for upcoming events.
We had over 80 people come to our How to End an Oligarchy teach-in last Tuesday. That's over 80 young people in Portland who are fed up with the billionaire-controlled government and are ready to do something about it.
Mmhmm
As president, Trump will recklessly give his billionaire buddies free rein to burn our communities, poison our air and water, and take away good union jobs – all so they can get richer and richer. And as the young working class, we're going to rise up to end the era of billionaires.
Join us for our teach-in: How to End an Oligarchy, on March 11th at 6 pm.
📍1010 SW 13th Ave, 6-8:30 pm
MASKS REQUIRED 😷😷😷

Join us TOMORROW for our General Meeting! We'll be discussing the @sunrisemvmt national strategy for fighting Trump and doing some local power and history education around city council and Zenith Energy.
"The people of Portland have the right to clean air and water, resources that Zenith continues to pollute and devalue."
Sunrise PDX member Lili Yazzie speaking this morning outside of City Hall to protest Zenith Energy and the City's granting of a LUCS, despite severe public pushback.
It’s very cold and rainy/borderline slushy outside, but well over 50 people have turned out to Portland City Hall to protest the city issuing Zenith Energy a Land Use Compatibility Statement earlier this week.
“As youth organizers fighting for climate justice in Portland and beyond, we are committed to holding Zenith and other polluters accountable, and are deeply disappointed with the City of Portland for ignoring calls for investigation…” - @sunrisepdx.bsky.social
We will be at City Hall at 8:30 am on Wednesday, February 5th to rally with fellow community members and make our voices heard.
Mayor Keith Wilson faced plenty of public pressure in the last week to delay the LUCS until Zenith could be further investigated, but chose to ignore both constituents and councilors by issuing the statement today.
Over the years, Zenith has violated environmental regulations on multiple occasions, been dishonest about their operations, and posed health and safety risks to the community.
This morning, the City of Portland officially processed a Land Use Compatibility Statement (LUCS) for Zenith Energy, a Texas-based fossil fuel company operating out of NW Portland. The LUCS paves the way for Zenith to obtain permits from Oregon DEQ and expand operations in Portland.
