Ohhhh that last one. Reminds me of white evangelical churches. Always sending money and young people to “help” in places like Africa and Asia. That’s great. Helping communities of brown people in their own cities? Nope. Those ones don’t deserve it.

It’s one of the symptoms of the white gaze, in which the plight of people in other countries is romanticized, but the plight of Black and brown folks right here is too ugly to care about.
