Black Skinhead: A Conversation with Brandi Collins-Dexter | TechPolicy.Press Part media criticism, part memoir, and part warning, the book takes us to the fringes of Black communities to make sense of our political moment.

With Kanye claiming he's a Nazi and selling swastika T-shirts, I'm reminded of one of the more prescient books of the last few years from scholar Brandi Collins-Dexter (@brandicd.bsky.social). I interviewed her about the book three years ago. It predicted a lot more than just Kanye's latest turn.

The city of New Orleans uses the Mississippi River as drinking water. Our current governor begged the state to remove funding from the city of New Orleans to fix the pumps and the decaying sewage and water system UNTIL the DA agrees to prosecute women for abortions. www.essence.com/news/louisia...

It is fascinating how just being wealthy affords Elon positive traits that are completely contrary to what we see with our own eyes

See, even Black conservatives can sniff out Candace’s hustle because her disdain for Black Americans—and really anyone with half a moral conscience—is too obvious. I don’t even know if she’s trying to hide it. even know if she’s trying to hide it. She gets really close to saying things like white nationalism is a hoax and Hitler would’ve been fine if he had kept the concentration camps in his country.

There’s a video clip of Candace fighting with Steve Bannon about whether to put resources into local Black communities. In it, he advocates for spending money on tech skills development and education programs in major cities to grow the economy. Proudly (and on camera) Candace responds, “And here’s where I disagree with your assessment.… So the problem that you’re facing is that, yes, Black Americans, Hispanic Americans should be competing, but do they want to?… [In Black Americans] you have people that are looking for excuses and looking to be victims.. victims, and it’s being promoted in the culture.”

If you had told me that in a conversation between a Black woman and someone who has to repeatedly deny being a Neo-Nazi and white nationalist I would be more on the side of the person who calls himself a “race realist,” I would think you were nuts. But here we are. Welcome to my personal nightmare, where no one wins and we all go to hell.

MAGA has long tried to have it both ways, they gleefully traffic in antiBlackness while actively courting Black voters. They want to lay claim to being “real Americans” & playing into nativism, while also using the model minority myth to divide naturally aligned groups. Beyond MAGA, This is America

Steve Bannon Joins War Against Elon Musk as MAGA Implodes Donald Trump’s biggest fans are at each other’s throats over immigration, and H-1B visas in particular.

A lot of the present discourse about H1-B visas mirror a debate I discussed in one of my essays (An Abomination of Obamanation) between Bannon & Candace Owens that was posted on YT (post 1/2)

Your point is a good one though, if top tier players can go to Cleveland or even Philly I feel like Baltimore can get there with the right moves. They overly rely on that narrative as a cop out for sure.

The elephant in the room HOW the media works to make suburbanites and people globally fear the city (which many baseball players tend to be), who’s the percieved face of the city & the common denominator. That’s not necessaily going to be the same deterrent to a lot of desireable football players. 🤷🏾‍♀️

And I say this not as someone that is just giddy about nationstates but as someone who has been warning about, researching (& attempting to organize against) the rising tide of techno-authoritarianism for over a decade. The most effective tool we had was antitrust/regulation- watch them go to work.

I am not a baseball expert, just a nosy fan. Even I knew Burnes was not coming back here just because he performed well & got along in the clubhouse. Man gave the most unenthusiastic press conference going to spring training & told his pregnant wife not to come here. How’d the O’s miss this?

Obviously Trump has always been a Ron Burgundy style empty vessel. Just like the first administration was made in Bannon’s image, this one will be made in Musk/Thiel’s image. It’s not clunky “MAGA,” it’s about making nationstates irrelevant. Project 2025 is window dressing, Zero to One is end game.

Gray girl cat, named Ella, sitting on a bad staring off in the distance Black boy cat, named Satchel, watching TV on a bed

Happy #Caturday 😻

I’ve been pretty sick. When I’m home, these little guys haven’t left my side. Especially the alpha girl cat. One thing about cats, when they love you, they love fiercely. They also love to start singing as soon as I’m even slightly awake, which is sweet but also kinda creepy.
