It was common knowledge in Liverpool at the time that Isak had been discussed as a possibility. I don’t think they wanted to sell him but at the time they needed funds.

I just don’t think they anticipated the issues with signing other players. I also think Liverpool correctly thought that Isak would be unhappy about it and that’s why they let it be known he was someone they admired so early on after the season ended.

Agreed but I think they made an error in judgement hawking him around last year when they had PSR issues before they managed to sell other players. I can’t help thinking he decided if they’re prepared to treat me like an asset this will be my last season. Which he reputedly told them it would be.
