this is done by many tables, i think? seems like a nice way to keep TVG stats as is, but reduce math even more (per you asking what I want to change)
thanks for sharing these thoughts. So per TVG, would the current creature AC be able to be a Low DR? A brigand has AC 2, which is higher than LDR1 (leather). but swinging a d6, means 3+ deals

frankly, it's just the narrative piece I quite like, of armor reducing...the slight twist does nice things for my brain.
Blue hack is: roll under stat/ armor reduces rolled dmg

for sure. not sure 1,2,3 reduction will alter much? hence verdict out on static dmg vs rolled.
playing solo as i do, the static dmg is always tempting. if its a low-level, i "hit" then its gone, if its a Lt., it takes 2, not interested usually in counting down HP. lots to track.

player facing defensive rolls are cooler than GM rolling to hit
verdict out on variable damage (or rolled dmg) vs. dmg being 1 Wound for normal weapon, 2 Wounds for heavy
Got this to the table (or lap desk), and it's fun! Really just a fantasy-themed solo card game (rather than an RPG), but the campaign sheet and the ability to track achievements and unlock passive and activity abilities make it feel like a roguelite. Plays quickly too, so it's easy to do a few runs.
