While I have plenty of beef with other stuff Newsom has done, this is exactly what we need right now

@gavinnewsom.bsky.social: "I think he should start with Shreveport, Louisiana, and Speaker Johnson's district that has 6x the per capita murder rate of Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco. What about the carnage, Mr. President, in Shreveport? Why aren't you protecting the folks there? What bullshit."

You may be thinking "How can an entire political party be organized around the policy of taking from everyone and giving to the rich? No one would vote for them." Well that's where Lying comes in

republicans keep making life worse for working people and better for the rich and then we have elections and they’re like no that’s not true! and people believe them and then they just do it all again and it’s enough to make a rational person feel absolutely fucking insane

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Want to win back working class people?

Run a campaign like Zohran Mamdani.

Make working class people the centerpiece of your campaign.

Zohran’s results so far just show how tired Americans are of the status quo, how we need creative, people-first campaigning and governance, and why positive, progressive politics are the future.

Hate to get ahead of myself before results are called but I’m so freakin happy right now.

I agree with the increasing number of people who say that when this ordeal is over there have to be trials.

Democratic Party electeds are going to be standing outside the gates of death camps watching smoke billow out of crematoria, and they'll still be saying "We demand answers!"

If you want more American flags at protests, you are welcome to go to the protests and fly one. No one will stop you. You yourself can create that picture of tolerance and pluralism.

But don't sit on the sidelines and tell a community under racist assault not to assert its right to exist.

500K Mexican-Americans served in the U.S. armed forces in WWII, as did millions of 1st and 2nd-gen immigrants, and 109K noncitizens.

Mexican immigrant Macario Garcia won the Medal of Honor in Normandy. When he returned to the US, he was was arrested for trying to eat at a segregated restaurant.

I cannot express enough how much these people actively hate the U.S. Constitution and would tear it into shreds if they were permitted.

So many people have grown up to be the villains of our stories.

Some have responded w/ a version of "why are you elevating this story when non-citizens have it much worse?"

This story shows, in a concrete & visceral way, that citizenship is not a shield from state lawlessness in a mass deportation regime. That realization can turn ppl against such policies.

It is not lost on me that a man who attended the funeral of Pope Francis also deported a child with metastatic cancer, innocent people to a gulag, and feels not one shred of remorse about either.

When Andrew Tate was charged with rape and human trafficking, Trump intervened to fly him back to the US.

When a working-class father of a disabled 5-year-old child was wrongfully deported and charged with NO crime, Trump refuses to lift a finger.

Dictatorships grab people off the street and jail them.
Dictatorships demonize vulnerable minorities.
Dictatorships destroy data.
Dictatorships reject independent courts.
Dictatorships buy the backing of the super-rich.
Dictatorships persecute dissidents.

See what’s happening, fellow Americans.

Also, let's be clear: Having a criminal record also doesn't mean you should be deported to a torture camp in another country and effectively sentenced to death.

Because everybody has basic rights, and because dictatorships will always redefine what "criminality" means.

Fascinating to see so many otherwise intelligent and privileged people discover that Trump is disastrous for America and the world at the exact moment their bottom line, wealth, and stock portfolio took a hit.

As long as Trump was attacking "the woke" and college students, they were on board.

White dudes are just bored, that’s why we need to destroy the economy.

Whilst bills continue to rise and the cost of living crisis pushes millions into debt, the super rich have never had it easier.

We need nothing short of a revolution with wealth tax and mass nationalisation to transform the society torn apart by a rigged economy.

Most clarifying era in politics in America as anything I can recall because it’s so simple:

You’re either for this or against. Pick a side.
