I'm preparing a lecture on scientometrics for students, and this paper is a good example of research combining bibliometrics and altmetrics. It’s currently paywalled.

Interesting critique of preregistration by Luke Conway. It raises points worth considering beyond psychology. Worth reading and thinking about critically.

Average scores given to an article by ChatGPT based on its paradigmatic position relative to the article assessed. Error bars illustrate 95% confidence intervals. All differences are statistically significant. The theoretical score range is 1* to 4*. An “Antagonistic follower” supports the opposing paradigm of the article. https://arxiv.org/abs/2510.22426

If an #AI is told to follow a certain academic paradigm, will it rate papers differently? 🤔 A study by @mikethelwall.bsky.social et al. shows: yes. Across 8 paradigm pairs and 1,490 papers, #ChatGPT scored lower when opposed, quietly penalizing ideas outside its frame. arxiv.org/abs/2510.22426

I found this study methodologically sound and valuable. It treats AI realistically as a tool, not a ready-made solution for knowledge organization. It acknowledges serious limitations, but also strengths such as identifying potential new synonyms. It's a great source of ideas for new research.

The rise of China and the fall of open access The theme of Open Access Week is "Who owns our knowledge?". The answer is increasingly likely to be "China".

James Butcher’s analysis shows a sharp rise in papers by Chinese researchers. At the same time, they publish mostly under closed access. The author argues that the future of open access depends on China. Interesting.

Perhaps one of the things we, as reviewers, should so is validate the references and if JUST ONE is fake the paper should be rejected. No other reason, just reject for that reason - which is justifibale, in my opinion.
