I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Fun fact.

In 1996 Ukraine handed over nuclear weapons to Russia "in exchange for a guarantee never to be threatened or invaded".

This fascinating timelapse of an orb-weaver spider building her web is even more remarkable considering she removes it before dawn each day and constructs a new one every night to avoid daytime predators.

Exclusive | Social Security Chief Says Musk’s DOGE Figures Heavily in Agency’s Plans Despite the billionaire’s exit from the White House, DOGE remains central to an effort to make Social Security a “digital-first organization.”

The head of Social Security has said he’s “fundamentally a DOGE person.”

The DOGE that fired thousands of workers, threatened to shut down offices, and is now rifling through Americans’ personal data?

Elon Musk may be out of the picture, but DOGE is still creating chaos.

No one cares what you believe. You literally believe lies and disbelieve truth. You’re not a serious person.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

I ran an experiment, simultaneously posting articles on Bluesky and X, and then testing to see how many people actually clicked and read them. The numbers on Bluesky are higher, both because the X algorithm downranks journalism, and because Bluesky attracts readers, not just shitposters.

How DOGE’s grand plan to remake Social Security is backfiring The agency is abandoning an initiative aimed at preventing fraud, the latest example of a failed effort by Elon Musk’s disruptive cost-cutting team.

DOGE cut off Social Security Administration spending so now workers have to use their own money to buy office supplies.

Meanwhile Elon Musk makes $8 million every single day from the government.

Once again, this is because all of this is a job for Congress, under Article I of the Constitution. The Framers could not imagine legislators so cravenly lacking ambition & fealty to oaths that they would let the president run amok like Mad King George. Nor did they intend the courts to fix this.

A federal court just blocked Elon Musk from interfering with the federal government’s payments system.

There is power in fighting back. We won’t let up until this block is permanent.

This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942.

I know. I was there in those camps.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here at Bluesky for the follows and the conversations and the constructive, substantive interaction. It's a great forum, a great resource for circulating and talking about the news, and -- most of all -- a pleasure. I'm grateful!
