The future is big enough for everyone. Making the ability to manufacture, to make your ideas real, as common as running water at Itemfarm. Talking to the wonderful people helping humanity explore the cosmos at Small Steps & Giant Leaps.

25.06.2025 19:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There is a maximum amount of time each day you're supposed to focus on the world's problems instead of your own, after which you have a legitimate need for therapy on your thought processes being self-destructive. At some point you have to stop scrubbing your hands you are bleeding into the sink.

Isaacman had clearly articulated a strong support for science, and the withdrawal of his nomination yet further imperils NASA's Science Mission Directorate.

Settle a discussion in the Riley household:
What generation of warfare is it to introduce your niece to the Spice Girls' "Wannabe"?
As a boy growing up on a farm in Michigan Henry Ford was fascinated by the steam engines used in agricultural work. This spark shaped the modern world.
If you want a new generation of industrial and scientific progress the only way is to get your tech in front of kids.
"Why are there all these hex wrenches on the stove?"
"That is a good question"
"That is not an answer"
Breakfast time in a hardware household.
Me: why am I tired
My body: because you are running on 2 hours of sleep
Me: it's a mystery
My body: ... for the second time this week
Me: I guess we'll never know
Haha, I have no idea, but I imagine Plato may have had thoughts on ISRU in regards to what constitutes a healthy civilization, keeping track of it's resources and balancing the needs of the people
01.04.2025 17:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love how you brought in the practicalities of space!
I'd love to see ISRU be a core focus since Martian students will live next to the machines that build everything directly from the soil & air on Mars- instead of life on Earth where a nebulous 'supply chain' provides everything.
A delightful piece from Hollis that is sure to interest anyone who thinks seriously about education and/or our future among the stars

A screenshot from the first half of the final Q&A for The Silt Verses. It reads: MΓABH: Oh, something something something being bound by the patterns of tragedy. B.: Yeah! Oh, exactly. Like they have this weird vicious cycle going on, because of the way they love. MΓABH: That's what they say about tragedies, isn't it? They're likeβ¦the core element of a tragedy is that it could be, it's stoppable from the outside but unstoppable from the inside. It wouldn't have happened if the people had made other choices but if they had made other choices then they wouldn't be themselves. B.: That's beautiful! Exactly that. MΓABH: OK, next question from Hyla: does the Trawler-man have dominion over frogs? (Furiously pounding the table) The people want to know!
Looking through the @thesiltverses.bsky.social Q&A transcript for the title of something I want to check out, I snorted at the unintentional tonal whiplash of this segue. I canβt even claim the comedic timing, it didnβt even register in the moment because that was *hand wave* all of it.

Last year my childhood home was gutted by fire. I've been helping my mother recover since then. One thing I learned is that many companies will take 3D scans of the aftermath of a fire.
If your house was damaged & a 3D scan was taken then get it. Seriously. Get it.
