Besides being funny all by itself, the deposition is a great example of AI brain rot. The DOGE bro is plainly an otherwise (relatively) capable and intelligent person. But because he just cribbed his instructions from the EO while working and never internalized it, he can’t actually explain it now.
“You should be ashamed of where you work. Not just Grammarly or Superhuman or whatever comically dumb name you come up with next. Almost everyone running tech firms, most people in positions of responsibility … congrats, you’re all making the world a worse place.”

It is so not ideal. Even non-profits are using AI screening tools.
Fellow job seekers, how are you balancing the need to, you know, pay your mortgage, with not doing work that makes the world worse?
Oh, haha, I interviewed for a chief of staff position for Instagram's marketing CEO....never have I been so relieved to get passed over. The pay would have been too good to say no to. The work would have been actually evil.
My former colleagues are working at OpenAI, Anthropic, CoreWeave. These are places with really high paying jobs that I have a personal "in" at. And yet, I just can't bring myself to help these companies.
Another company had a position essentially ghostwriting for the CEO, which is something I did at my last job in tech. When I dug in on the company's mission, it was to help other companies AI everything...at likely great cost to workers and the environment.
A real thing I found during my job search is that there are very few jobs right now that don't feel ethically icky? Like, I found a comms director position at a health technology startup that looked awesome...until I saw the chief med officer was snake oil salesman Dr. Hyman. 1/5
I've accepted a job with an organization that has a handbook called "Memo Schmemo" and I could not be more pleased with my life choices.
if you were good at these books, the rest of us are counting on you to tell us when something is AI
ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. She’s married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.
They’ve already sent her to Louisiana.

It has taken a year for a referral from my doc to result in a call to schedule w/ the gastroenterologist....for a May appointment after which I can begin the process of scheduling a colonoscopy....which is becoming a leading cause of cancer deaths for people my age.
Great system, y'all
The drunk uncle theory.
You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there
end qualified immunity and make cops carry personal liability insurance
we need to talk about that Ring Super Bowl ad
all these ads are geared toward people our age because they think we have all the money but the joke is on them. 8 or 10 guys have all the money.
The biggest relief of getting laid off from a startup was knowing I no longer was beholden those ghouls.
having worked as a freelancer in much the same space, this thread was a delight to read (and VERY relatable)
Ironic, right?
I suspect they may not realize their third party vendor uses this? Or tells applicants about it? It was weird.
I'm having this same internal struggle
Climate change non profit notifying me they use AI to sort resumes 🙃
Reporting in from rural America: This piece of shit can fuck right off, give us actual fucking doctors and nurses
In case you're wondering how pickled MAGA brains are, I saw a friend's friend say everyone at the Grammy's last night was a Satanist (besides Jelly Roll, obvs). Imagine seeing Bad Bunny talk about love winning over hate and thinking: that's the work of Satin alright!

And Peter Attia MD telling Epstein the biggest problem with being his friend is he can’t tell anyone about the life he lives. Nice.
It matters so much.
We have joy on our side. That's what keeps me going some days.
