It’s natural to be frightened and depressed by this swell of repressive legislation and attacks, especially as they have been continuous and are gaining in amplitude. It’s essential to remember most Americans do not support these measures. We need to constantly remind ourselves of that >

Simply put, Trump/Musk is destroying everything supporting the public good: health, education, welfare, arts, science. And yet apparently half the voters in this country are fine with it. How is that possible? Where do you find hope?

You’ll feel better. It’s only a start, though. Think if how many other ways you can carry this forward by reducing our dependency on monsters like Amazon. And supporting local stores who need us all. Bezos has turned WaPo opinions to sheer propaganda. We can use our actions to speak back

It’s late at night. But I’ve got to say this. We can endure. This is by far not the worst that has happened to a country, or even in ours. But it will take a broad and committed movement. I am confident.

A Brutal Beginning: Orienting Ourselves Amid the Shock and Awe We must be prepared to live and act defiantly, deriving no legitimacy from the illegitimate brutes who would govern us.

I wrote about Trump's executive orders, including his attacks on trans and undocumented people, and how we should be orienting ourselves to defy fascist violence in this moment. This piece includes commentary from @chasestrangio.bsky.social and @silkys13.bsky.social.

On first glance the US push to onshore supply chains appears as an opposite spatial logic to that of Empire. “Bring mining & manufacturing home” versus securing them abroad via soft & hard power.

But another way to onshore is to expand the ‘shore’ to Panama, Greenland and beyond

Denied vote on pro-BDS resolution, MLA members protest The backlash continues to the Modern Language Association Executive Council’s fall decision not to let members vote on a pro-Palestinian resolution.

The remarks by the current president of the #MLA reveal just how morally bankrupt, cowardly, and unimaginative the organization is. Embarrassingly so. Cancelled my membership.
